Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team begins a two-game week Wednesday night at home when it takes on SUNY Poly in a non-conference match. The Knights will then travel to Yeshiva on Sunday where Skyline Conference play kicks off. Live Stats and Video will be available for both contests for those who are unable to attend.
At A Glance: The Knights are looking to get back in the win column after a 0-0 draw against Buffalo State on Saturday. They enter Wednesday's contest with a 1-3-1 record on the season.
Marco Mazzarelli (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) has the lone goal thus far for the Knights, while Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) assisted on that goal. Wyant also leads the team with eight shots-on-goal.
In goal, Caesar Martinez (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) has started all five games and went the distance in each. Martinez has saved 25 of 32 shots, good for save percentage of 78.1%. Two of his five starts have been shutouts.
Knight Honors: The Mount was the lone unbeaten team at last weekend's Blue Devil Classic hosted by Fredonia with Wyant earning MVP honors. Marco Mazzarelli and Matthew Flangan were also named to the All-Tournament Team. In addition, Martinez and Mazzarelli picked up Skyline Conference Awards, earning Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Scouting Poly: The Wildcats will enter Wednesday's contest riding a two-game win streak, sitting at 2-1 overall. After being shutout in their first contest, they have scored seven goals in their last two.
In goal, James D'Alessio has played all 270 minutes, saving 14 of 19 shots on the season.
Recent History: The Knights and the Wildcats have faced off just once over the past ten years, with the Wildcats taking the victory 2-0 in 2021.
A Look At Yeshiva: The Maccabees come into Sunday's contest at 2-1-1 overall. They played to a 2-2 draw against Merchant Marine on Sunday.
Nicolas Dlugach and Benjamin Brener have each gotten time in the goal, with Dlugach logging 269 minutes, and Brener logging 90 minutes. Dlugach is 12 of 21 on saves this season, while Brener is a perfect 6 for 6.
Recent History: Over the past five meetings between the two programs, Mount Saint Mary has won all five, outscoring Yeshiva 17-4 in those contests.
