Knights Set For Busy Three-Game Week

MSMC opens league play Thursday at Yeshiva

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team opens a three-game week Tuesday evening when it heads north to play a non-conference contest at RPI. The Knights open Skyline Conference play on Thursday at Yeshiva before hosting Skidmore on Saturday afternoon. Live Stats and Video will be available for all three contests for those who are unable to attend.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary is in search of its first win of the season and enters Tuesday's game with an 0-4-1 mark overall on the season. The Knights wrapped up play on Sunday at the Salisbury Women's Soccer Classic with a 1-1 draw against St. Mary's-Maryland.
 
Three newcomers lead the scoring attack with one goal apiece, including Emma Mihale (Oceanside, N.Y.) who has scored once and helped on another goal for a team-high three points. Kaitlin Hansen (Port Jervis, N.Y.) and Shannon McGowan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) have added with other goals with Darla Petricca (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) tied for the team lead in assists with one.
 
In goal, Caroline Brucato (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) has started three of the five games and leads the team with 22 saves. Brucato finished with a season-high 10 saves on Saturday afternoon at Salisbury.
 
Scouting RPI: The Engineers are also looking for their first win of the campaign, entering this evening's contest at 0-3-1 overall. RPI is in search of its first goal of the season and is coming off a 4-0 loss on the road at Cortland on Saturday.
 
Sierra Skelding and Megan Wampner have each played 180:00 between the pipes for RPI through four contests with each keeper making 12 saves. Skelding holds a team-best 1.50 goals against average and an .800 save percentage.
 
Recent History: The two teams have met twice since 2013 with each team coming away with a victory. The Knights scored a 2-1 home win on September 26, 2013 with the Engineers scoring a 4-0 win at Kaplan Field on September 15, 2021.
 
Previewing The Maccabees: Yeshiva enters a Tuesday game with Maritime winless in five outings and 0-4 in conference play. Yeshiva suffered an 11-0 loss in its last outing at St. Joseph's-L.I. on Sunday.
 
The Maccabees are in search of their first goal of the season and have been outshot 211-8 through five contests.
 
Daniella Bessler has logged every minute in goal for the Maccabees and has stopped 95 shots, including 36 saves in the season opener against New Jersey City University.
 
Recent History: Since 2007, the two sides have met 10 times with the Knights coming away victorious in each meeting. The Knights have allowed just a single goal over that stretch, outscoring Yeshiva 99-1.
 
A Look At Skidmore: The Thoroughbreds travel to Russell Sage on Tuesday sporting a 2-1 overall record. Skidmore holds wins over Castleton and New Paltz around a 1-0 loss to Plattsburgh.
 
Kyra Russman-Araya paces the scoring attack for Skidmore, tallying three times and assisting on two other goals for a team-high eight points. Kat Dunn adds two goals, including a game winner, with Molly Cunningham checking in with a goal, a deciding tally, and an assist.
 
Three keepers have seen time over the first three games of the season with Claire Wolgast playing 161:48 of a possible 270:00. Wolgast has made 10 saves and holds a 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage.
 
Recent History: The Knights and Skidmore opened the 2021 season in Saratoga Springs in 2021 with the Mount posting a 1-0 victory in the only previous meeting between the two programs.   
 
What's Next: Mount Saint Mary plays a pair of Skyline Conference road games when it heads to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on September 20 and Manhattanville on September 24.
