New York, N.Y. – Three Mount Saint Mary College Baseball players were recognized by the Skyline Conference Monday morning with
Matthew Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.),
Anthony Franco (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and
Jack Goodwin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) all named Second Team All-League. In addition to his Second Team citation, Borriello was also named to the league's All-Sportsmanship Team.
Borriello put together a stellar senior season for the Knights and earns All-Conference accolades for the first time in his career. Borriello pitched to a 6-2 record and a 2.37 earned run average over 10 starts for the Knights in 2022. He led the team in innings pitched with 57.0, struck out 25 and allowed just a .255 opponent's batting average.
Borriello finished the season ranked fourth in the Skyline Conference in earned run average, tied for sixth in innings pitched and 11
th in opponent batting average.
Franco also earns All-Conference recognition for the first time in his career, after hitting .469 for the Knights. He finished with eight extra base hits for the Mount, including six doubles, scored 17 runs and drove in 11. He put together a .694 slugging percentage and drew 11 walks leading to a .578 on-base percentage. Franco finished the season with six hits over a doubleheader with Maritime, including a walk-off single in a 7-6 game two victory.
Goodwin lands on an All-Conference team for the second straight season after earning First Team recognition in 2021. Goodwin hit .348 over 28 games played, finishing second on the team with 31 hits. Goodwin scored 16 runs and drove in 14 and finished tied for the team lead with eight doubles. Goodwin posted an .867 OPS and swiped six bases.
Mount Saint Mary finished the 2022 season with a 16-17 overall record, including an 11-9 record against Skyline Conference opponents.
