Bronxville, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team took to the road Saturday afternoon and came away with impressive 12-2 and 14-1 victories at league rival Sarah Lawrence. The Knights clubbed three home runs in the opener with
Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) driving in three runs in the game two triumph.
Saturday's sweep pushes the Mount to 19-14 overall and 15-1 in Skyline Conference play heading into the Sunday's set with Farmingdale State. Sarah Lawrence drops to 2-18 overall.
Game 1: Mount Saint Mary 12 – Sarah Lawrence 2
How It Happened
- After each team went scoreless in their first at-bat, the Gryphons jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of unearned runs in the second.
- The Mount countered with two runs in the top of the third to tie the score, getting a steal of home from Sofia Gannon (East Patchogue, N.Y.) and a run scoring double from Killeen.
- The Knights took their first lead of the opener in the fifth when Laura Dentato (Farmingdale, N.Y.) launched a two-run home run with two outs in the frame.
- Mount Saint Mary put game one away in the seventh, scoring eight times on six hits.
- Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the seventh with a two-run double with Nicole Rosner (Brewster, N.Y.) later adding an RBI double to put the Knights in front 8-2.
- Samantha Bendig (Tampa, Fla.) connected on a two-run home run to push the Mount in front 10-2 and Melanie McClinchey (Medford, N.Y.) closed the scoring in the game with a two-run homer of her own with two outs in the inning.
For The Knights
- Mount Saint Mary outhit the Gryphons 10-4 in game one with six safeties going for extra bases.
- Killeen wrapped up the win 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and an RBI.
- Ferara added a 2-for-4 effort with a double, run and two RBI.
- Jenna Cedeno (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Dentato, Bendig and McClinchey all homered and drove in two runs with McClinchey adding four runs scored.
- Rosner doubled, scored a run and drove in two for the Knights.
- Christen Hansen (Cypress, Calif.) picked up the win with 5.2 innings of scoreless work. She allowed just two hits and struck out eight.
Game 2: Mount Saint Mary 14 – Sarah Lawrence 1 (F/5)
How It Happened
- Sarah Lawrence scored first again in game two, getting a sacrifice fly from Bailey Nguyen in the first for an early 1-0 lead.
- The Mount answered with 11 runs in the second to pull away in game two. The Knights pounded out seven hits in the inning and took advantage of two Sarah Lawrence miscues.
- Killeen singled home two runs to open the scoring in the inning with Dentato adding a run scoring infield hit.
- Dylan Lane (Red Hook, N.Y.) drove in a run in the single with McClinchey and Dentato adding RBI with a walk and hit by pitch.
- Cedeno closed out the scoring in the inning with a run scoring single with two outs in the frame.
- Mount Saint Mary finished off the scoring in the game with three more runs in the top of the third.
- Victoria Santomauro (Eastchester, N.Y.) delivered a run with a groundout ahead of a run scoring infield single from Ferara.
- Jessica Ehret (Broad Channel, N.Y.) delivered the final run of the game when she was plunked with the bases loaded.

- Cedeno finished off game two 3-for-3 at the plate with a run and an RBI.
- Killeen posted a 2-for-3 performance with a run and three RBI.
- Ferara posted two hits, including a double, adding a run scored and an RBI.
- Dentato went 2-for-2 with a walk, run scored and two RBI.
- Riley Norwood (East Haven, N.Y.), Lane and McClinchey all scored three runs in the victory.
- Ferara picked up her first win in the circle, working 5.0 innings and surrendering a run on two hits while striking out four.
