Newburgh, N.Y. – Anthony Franco (Franklin Square, N.Y.) totaled six hits, including the game winning single in the 10
th inning of game two, as the Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team kept its Skyline Conference Championship hopes alive with an important 11-5 and 7-6 sweep of visiting Maritime Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's sweep moves Mount Saint Mary to 14-17 overall on the season and to 9-9 in league play, while Maritime falls to 20-12 overall and 10-8 against league rivals.
Game 1: Mount Saint Mary 11 – Maritime 5
How It Happened
- Maritime got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning following a Freddy Forgione two-run home run and an Adam Mosca run scoring double.
- Mount Saint Mary got on the board in the bottom of the third following a Dominick Marzigliano (Highland Mills, N.Y.) RBI single and a Brandon Nolasco (Chester, N.Y.) walk with the bases loaded that forced in Jack Goodwin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).
- Trailing 3-2 through three innings, the Mount Saint Mary offense erupted for five runs in the fourth and four more runs in the fifth to open an 11-3 advantage.
- Goodwin drove a two-run double to right in the big fourth inning with Marzigliano capping the frame with a three-run blast to left to give the Knights a 7-3 lead.
- In the fifth, Cullen Roper (Stratford, Conn.) scored on a passed ball ahead of a two-run double from Franco.
- Goodwin closed out the scoring in the inning with an RBI groundout that chased home Franco for an 11-3 advantage.
- Maritime got two runs back in the sixth on run scoring singles from Jaden Shea and Anthony Madigan, but would manage just one base runner in their final at-bat.
For The Knights
- Mount Saint Mary outhit Maritime 12-10 in the opener.
- Franco finished game one 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and a pair of RBI.

- Matthew Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) picked up his sixth win of the season in game one, working 5.0 innings. He allowed five runs on nine hits and struck out two.
- Michael Di Tullio (Montgomery, N.Y.) worked 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and fanning two.
Game 2: Mount Saint Mary 7 – Maritime 6 (F/10)
How It Happened
- The two teams traded early blows in game two with Maritime scoring twice in its first at-bat and Mount Saint Mary answering with three runs in the bottom of the first.
- Two runs scored following a Marzigliano single and miscue by the left fielder and Marzigliano later scored the final run of the inning on a passed ball.
- Maritime added two runs in the second and singles runs in the third and seventh frames to open a 6-3 advantage.
- Ryan Rockhill drove in both second inning runs with a single with Mosca pushing the Privateers in front 5-3 with an RBI double in the third.
- Maritime expanded its lead to 6-3 in the seventh on an Austen Bishop run scoring single.
- Trailing by three runs and down to its final nine outs, Mount Saint Mary rallied with three runs in the seventh to knot the score at 6-6.
- Marzigliano drove in a run with a single to cut the Maritime lead to 6-4 and later scored, along with Goodwin, on a two-run single from Nolasco with two outs in the inning.
- After tying the score, Mount Saint Mary allowed a runner to scoring position in the eighth that Maritime was unable to push across.
- Following a leadoff single in the 10th, Di Tullio got a double play ball to thwart the Maritime threat in the extra frame.
- Ryan Lutinski (Easton, Conn.) led off the bottom of the tenth with a single and pinch runner Frank Signorelli advanced to second on a groundout.
- Following an error and a hit batsman loaded the bases, Franco shot a single to left that delivered Signorelli with the game winning run.

- Franco capped a big day with three more hits in game two, going 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
- Marzigliano went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
- Goodwin picked up a hit, scored twice and drew a walk.
- Lutinski went 3-for-4, including the leadoff single in the tenth.
- Mike Scotto (Putnam, N.Y.) made the start, allowing five runs on five hits in 2.1 innings.
- Liam Horan (Stony Point, N.Y.) struck out four, allowing just one run in 4.2 innings of relief.
- Anthony Caminitti (Mahopac, N.Y.) worked a scoreless eighth inning.
- Di Tullio picked up the win with 2.0 scoreless innings of work.
