Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team played its first home games on campus Tuesday afternoon, falling to local foe New Paltz 4-0 and 7-4.
Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded two hits in the opener with freshman
Jenna Cedeno (Staten Island, N.Y.) picking up two base hits in game two.
Tuesday's sweep drops Mount Saint Mary to 4-11 overall on the season, while New Paltz improves to 15-9.

How It Happened
- The Hawks did all their scoring in the first three innings, plating two runs it the first and two more in the third.
- Jackie Rometo scored what proved to be the game winning run in the first inning on an error with Katie Quagliana scoring the second run of the inning on another Mount Saint Mary miscue.
- New Paltz tacked on two more runs in the third, taking advantage of another Mount Saint Mary error. Jillian Shelbourn and Carol Ann Campsey each scored on sacrifice bunts in the frame to close out the scoring.
- Hits were even in the game 5-5.
For The Knights
- Ferara finished the opener 2-for-3.
- Cedeno, Laura Dentato (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Nicole Rosner (Brewster, N.Y.) all picked up hits with Cedeno ripping a double.
- Bridget Morris (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) suffered the loss in the circle. She worked a complete game, allowing four unearned runs and striking out six.
Game 2: New Paltz 7 – Mount Saint Mary 4
- New Paltz broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the second, added single runs in the third and fourth and plated two more in the fifth to open a 6-0 advantage.
- Kelly Marmorowski opened the scoring with a home run with Nicole Greco scoring on a groundout in the second.
- After falling behind 6-0, the Knights got on the board for the first time in the home half of the fifth when Sophia Reed (Boonton, N.J.) singled home Rosner with one out in the frame.
- New Paltz tacked on a run in the top of the seventh to pull in front 7-1 before the Mount put together its biggest rally of the day.
- Melanie McClinchey (Medford, N.Y.) worked a walk with two outs and no one on base and an error and a Ferara single loaded the bases for the Knights.
- Dentato singled in the first run of the inning with Cedeno chasing home Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) with a base hit and Ferara scoring following an error to make it 7-4.
- With the tying run at the plate, Jillian Harrison was able to wiggle out of the jam and preserve the sweep for the visitors.
For The Knights
- Cedeno went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
- Killeen and Ferara each finished game two with a hit and a run scored.
- Dentato and Reed joined Cedeno with a hit and RBI with Dentato drawing two walks
- Rosner suffered the loss in the circle, striking out two in 4.2 innings.
- Christen Hansen (Cypress, Calif.) allowed a single run in 2.1 innings.
