Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team got back into the win column Friday afternoon with a pair of Skyline Conference victories, scoring 12-0 and 11-3 decisions over old Westbury.
Bridget Morris (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) fired a shutout in the game one win, while
Samantha Bendig (Tampa, Fla.) doubled and homered in the game two victory.
Friday's sweep pushes Mount Saint Mary to 17-14 overall and 13-1 in Skyline Conference play heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Old Westbury slips to 7-19 overall and 7-7 in conference action.
Game 1: Mount Saint Mary 12 – Old Westbury 0 (F/5)
How It Happened
- Mount Saint Mary outhit the Panthers 10-1 in the opener, with Old Westbury's lone hit coming on a bunt single in the first inning.
- The Knights got all the scoring they would need in the bottom of the first, plating three runs.
- Nicole Rosner (Brewster, N.Y.) drove in the game's first two runs with a single.
- Sofia Gannon (East Patchogue, N.Y.) pushed the Knights in front 3-0 with a single to left that delivered Laura Dentato (Farmingdale, N.Y.).
- Mount Saint Mary plated four more runs in the third and put the game away with five tallies in the home half of the fourth.
- Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) drove a three-run double through the left center field gap and later scored on an Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) single that gave the Mount a 9-0 lead.
- In the fourth, Gannon and Riley Norwood (East Haven, Conn.) both walked in runs ahead of two runs coming home on an Old Westbury miscue.

How It Happened
- Mount Saint Mary jumped in front 5-0 with five tallies in the bottom of the second inning.
- The Knights scored their first two runs on Old Westbury miscues, before Killeen doubled home two runs to give the Knights a 4-0 lead.
- Dentato closed out the scoring in the second inning with a single that delivered Killeen.
- Old Westbury scored their only three runs of the day in the top of the third keyed by an RBI single from Alaina Reilly.
- Mount Saint Mary answered with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and ended the game with three tallies in the bottom of the fifth.
- Dentato drove in Ferara with a ground rule double ahead of a two-run blast from Bendig.
- Rosner delivered the final two runs in the fifth with a single that drove in Dentato and Ferara.
