Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team moved into a tie for first place in the Skyline Conference standings following a 7-6 and 5-4 sweep of visiting St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon.
Bridget Morris (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) earned the win in both ends of the set with
Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) and
Riley Norwood (East Haven, Conn.) each driving in two runs in the game one victory.
Sunday's sweep improves Mount Saint Mary to 15-12 overall on the season and to 11-1 in Skyline Conference play, matching Farmingdale State's 11-1 mark atop the conference standings. St. Joseph's-L.I. slips to 13-12 overall and 8-6 in league play.

How It Happened
- Mount Saint Mary did all of its scoring in game one in the bottom of the second inning.
- The Knights sent 12 batters to the plate in the second inning, recording five hits and taking advantage of two errors.
- Sofia Gannon (East Patchogue, N.Y.) started the scoring with an RBI single ahead of a two-run base hit from Norwood that moved the Knights in front 3-0.
- The advantage grew to 5-0 when Killeen shot a single down the right field line that delivered both Gannon and Norwood.
- Laura Dentato (Farmingdale, N.Y.) followed with a run scoring single to move the Mount in front 6-0 and Killeen scored on a throwing error to close out the scoring in the inning.
- St. Joseph's-L.I. got on the board in the fourth on an RBI single from Riley Ellis and got two runs closer in the fifth on run scoring singles from Lauren Crawford and Lindsay Ness.
- St. Joseph's plated three runs with two-outs in the seventh before Morris got a groundout to end the threat.
For The Knights
- Dentato wrapped up the opener 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Gannon finished 2-for-3 with a double, run and RBI.
- Killeen produced a hit, run scored and two RBI.
- Norwood went 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
- Samantha Bendig (Tampa, Fla.) and Jenna Cedeno (Staten Island, N.Y.) each recorded a hit and scored run a run.
- Morris picked up her sixth win of the season after striking out five in 4.1 innings.
- Christen Hansen (Cypress, Calif.) picked up her second save, surrendering three unearned runs in 2.2 innings.
Game 2: Mount Saint Mary 5 – St. Joseph's-L.I. 4
How It Happened
- St. Joseph's got off to a quick start in game two, plating a pair of runs in the top of the first. Crawford doubled home a run to start the scoring and later scored on an Ellis groundout.
- Mount Saint Mary was held off the board until the third when it plated a trio of runs.
- Nicole Rosner (Brewster, N.Y.) doubled home a pair of runs before Cedeno scored the go-ahead run on a Golden Eagle miscue with two outs in the inning.
- The Knights tacked on two important insurance runs in the fifth to open a 5-2 advantage.
- Bendig pushed the Mount in front 4-2 with an RBI groundout and Gannon delivered Dentato with a two-out infield single.
- St. Joseph's mounted another late inning rally in game two, plating two runs in its final at-bat.
- Madison DiPalo cut the Mount's advantage to 5-3 on a sacrifice bunt that scored a run with Jenna Kreiling singling home a run with two-outs in the frame.
- For the second straight game, Morris got a groundout to end the game with the tying run on base.

- Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in game two.
- Gannon wrapped up the second win of the day 2-for-3 with an RBI.
- Rosner doubled and drove in two.
- Dentato recorded a hit and a run scored.
- Morris worked a complete game, allowing four runs on eight hits while fanning five.
