Baseball Earns Non-Conference Win At Albertus Magnus

Nolasco homers, drives in six runs

Hamden, Conn. – The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team got back into the win column on Wednesday evening, scoring an impressive 16-5 road victory at Albertus Magnus. Brandon Nolasco (Chester, Conn.) drove in six runs for the Mount and Michael Di Tullio (Montgomery, N.Y.) earned his first career win on the mound.
 
Wednesday's victory improves Mount Saint Mary to 10-14 overall on the season while Albertus Magnus falls to 2-17.
 
How It Happened
  • Mount Saint Mary broke the game open early with three runs in its first at-bat. Following singles from Ben Crowley (Highland Mills, N.Y.) and Cullen Roper (Stratford, Conn.), Nolasco drilled his second home run of the season to give the Knights a 3-0 lead.
  • Mount Saint Mary improved its advantage to 12-1 with three more runs in the second, four tallies in the third and a pair of runs in the fourth.
  • Anthony Laietta (North Massapequa, N.Y.) drove in two runs with a double in the second.
  • Nolasco highlighted the four-run third with a three-run double.
  • Jack Goodwin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) drove in both runs in the fourth with a two-out single.
  • The Knights tacked on three more runs in the sixth and finished of their scoring in the game with a single tally in the seventh.
  • Goodwin drove in two more runs in the sixth with a double and Anthony Franco (Franklin Square, N.Y.) delivered Goodwin with a two-out double of his own.
  • Shane Finch (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) drove in his first career run with a one-out single in the seventh.
  • Mount Saint Mary outhit Albertus Magnus 18-6 in the game.
 
For The Knights
  • 12 different Knights finished with a hit in the game and five different players finished with at least two hits.
  • Roper finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
  • Nolasco wrapped up the win 2-for-3 with a double, home run, two runs scored and six RBI.
  • Crowley picked up two hits and scored twice.
  • Goodwin went 2-for-3 with a run and four RBI.
  • Adam Leone (Wallingford, Conn.) collected two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.
  • Di Tullio worked the first 2.0 innings for the Mount, allowing a run on one hit while striking out four in moving to 1-0 on the season.
  • Anthony Caminitti (Mahopac, N.Y.) struck out the side in an inning of relief work.
