Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team clubbed nine extra base hits in Sunday's doubleheader against Mount Saint Vincent, including six in game one, as the Knights cruised to 16-3 and 14-5 wins over the Dolphins.
Laura Dentato (Farmingdale, N.Y.) homered twice and drove in five runs in Sunday's opener for the Knights.
Sunday's sweep pushes Mount Saint Mary to 8-11 overall on the season and to 7-1 in Skyline Conference play, while Mount Saint Vincent dips to 3-15 overall and 0-8 in league action.
Game 1: Mount Saint Mary 16 – Mount Saint Vincent 3 (F/5)
How It Happened
- Mount Saint Mary broke game one open early, plating four runs in the home half of the first inning.
- Alicia Killeen (Nesconset, N.Y.) singled and Olivia Ferara (Middletown, N.Y.) walked to start the inning before Dentato blasted a three-run home run to left.
- Samantha Bendig (Tampa, Fla.) delivered the final run of the frame with her first of three doubles in the game.
- After the Dolphins plated a run in the top of the third, the Knights erupted for eight runs in the home half of the inning.
- Bendig doubled home two more runs in the frame with Sofia Gannon (East Patchogue, N.Y.) and Killeen adding run scoring base hits.
- Ferara put the Mount in front 10-1 with a two-run single ahead of a two-run opposite field home run from Dentato to close out the scoring in the inning.
- Mount Saint Mary finished off its scoring in the fourth, getting a sacrifice fly from Riley Norwood (East Haven, Conn.), a run scoring single from Gannon and a two-run single from Ferara.
- Mount Saint Mary outhit Mount Saint Vincent 15-6 in the contest.

Game 2: Mount Saint Mary 14 – Mount Saint Vincent 5 (F/5)
How It Happned
- After falling behind 2-0 following a Jocelyn Vega two-run homerun in the first, the Knights responded with three tallies in the bottom of the inning.
- Bendig closed out the scoring in the opening inning with her fourth double of the day, delivering Dentato.
- Mount Saint Mary put together its second eight-run inning of the day in the second, totaling seven hits.
- Jenna Cedeno (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in two runs with a single in the inning with Norwood driving in two more runs with a single.
- Mount Saint Vincent scored single runs in its final three at-bats, but it was not enough to overcome four more runs from the Knights in the home half of the fourth.
- Ferara drove in the team's final two runs of the day with her first career home run, a two-run shot to left.
- Mount Saint Mary pounded out 14 more hits in game two, including three for extra bases.
