Knights Close Road Trip At USMMA

Knights, Mariners close season series on Saturday

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team finishes off a three-game conference road trip and closes the regular season series with the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday afternoon. At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary looks to snap a six-game losing streak and enters the weekend at 5-12 overall and 3-6 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights are coming off a hard fought 75-69 road loss at Old Westbury on Wednesday night.
 
Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.) and Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.) lead the Mount's offensive attack with 13.3 and 10.1 points per game, respectively. Yearwood shoots better than 41-percent from the floor overall and an even 40-percent from three-point range to go along with 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
 
Cyran, who scored a team-high 20 points on Wednesday at Old Westbury, is shooting 45.4-percent from the floor for the Knights and chips in just under five rebounds and just over one assist per contest.
 
Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) hauls in a team-high 10.0 rebounds per game and adds 9.5 points per game along with 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.
 
Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.) converts at nearly 50-percent from the floor on his way to 8.3 points per game with Ryan Graham (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) contributing 7.6 tallies per night. Sienke is good for 4.1 rebounds and better than two assists per night for the Mount.
 
Mount Saint Mary scores an even 63 points per game and is converting at 39.6-percent overall, 30.2-percent from three-point range and 67.4-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Scouting The Mariners: USMMA has dropped its last two outings, but won four of its last six overall to enter Saturday's tilt at 10-8 overall and 7-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Mariners had a four-game winning streak stopped with a 62-40 loss at St. Joseph's-L.I. on Sunday and fell to #6 Yeshiva on Tuesday 82-66.
 
Bryce Bristow leads three Mariners scoring in double-figures with 12.5 points per game and adds a team-high 1.8 steals to go along with 6.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists. Kody Robison supports the offense with 10.6 points, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per outing.
 
Cam Baldwin is good for 10.5 points per game and a team-high 2.0 blocks per outing and also chips in 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals. Blaine McDonough leads the team on the glass with 6.6 rebounds per game and chips in 8.4 points, while Isaac Vencel is good for nearly eight points per outing, 1.6 steals and a team-high 3.0 assists.
 
USMMA scores 70.0 points per game and is shooting 41.4-percent overall, 32.7-percent from three-point range and 62.4-percent from the charity stripe.
 
Previous Meeting: The two sides met at the Kaplan Center on December 1 with the Knights coming away with a tight 67-66 victory. Cyran and Sienke led the Knights with 14 points apiece as the team shot 45-percent from the floor. Bristow and McDonough combined for 22 points for the Mariners who shot 43.1-percent from the floor.
 
Series History: Mount Saint Mary moved to 6-5 in the head-to-head series since the Mariners rejoined the Skyline Conference and have won each of the last three meetings.
 
What's Next: The Knights return home to face Purchase on Monday, February 7.
