Knights, Panthers Close Season Series Saturday Afternoon

Knights scored 62-59 win over Purchase Monday night

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team will travel to Purchase to wrap up the regular season series with the Panthers on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with Live Stats and Video available.

At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary will tussle with the Panthers for the second time this week after posting a tight 62-59 home win against Purchase on Monday. The Knights followed up Monday's victory, their first since January 15, with a 67-62 defeat at the hands of Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday. Mount Saint Mary closes out a three-game week on Saturday with a 6-14 overall record and a 4-8 mark against league rivals.
 
Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.) poured in a career-high 26 points against the Gryphons on Wednesday and leads the team in scoring on the season with 14.6 points per game. Yearwood is shooting 41-percent from the field overall and connects on 39.6-percent of his three-point field goals. He chips in just over three rebounds per game and nearly two assists per outing for the Mount.
 
Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) collects a team-high 9.7 rebounds per game and averages nearly a double-double with 9.5 points per outing. He swatted a career-high five shots against Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday and is the team's top rim protector with 1.3 blocks per contest.
 
Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.) averages just shy of double-figures with 9.8 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds per night, while Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.) is good for 8.1 points 4.0 rebound and just over two assists per contest. Mike Dedda (West Chester, Pa.) leads the team in helpers with 2.3 per game.
 
Mount Saint Mary scores 62.1 points per game on the season and converts at 38.6-percent overall, 29.8-percent from three-point range and 68.5-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Previewing The Panthers: Purchase has dropped its last four decisions, including Monday's loss at the Mount and a 76-57 defeat by USMMA on Wednesday. The Panthers finish the season up with two home games in their last three and with a 4-16 overall record and a 4-9 mark in conference competition.
 
Purchase is good for just over 69 points per game as a team and shoots 38.5-percent overall, 30.7-percent from three-point range and 71.6-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Previous Meeting: The two sides will meet for the second time this week on Saturday following Monday's 62-59 win for the Mount at the Kaplan Center. Yearwood led all scorers in the game with 21 points with Figueroa adding 13 points and nine rebounds. Mount Saint Mary shot 34.5-percent overall in the win and knocked down six three-pointers.
 
Justin Mason led the way for Purchase with 15 points with Malcolm Hansford-Whyte producing a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Purchase finished the night shooting 33.9-percent overall and canned nine triples.
 
Recent History: With Monday's win, Mount Saint Mary has won two of the last three meetings in the series, while Purchase holds a 6-4 edge since the start of the 2016-17 season.
 
What's Next: The Knights travel to Manhattanville on Tuesday for the first of back-to-back games with the Valiants to begin the final week of the regular season.
