Newburgh, N.Y. – Following a 2021-22 season that saw them miss the conference tournament, the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team returns to action Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when it hosts Misericordia University. At A Glance: The Knights closed out the 2021-22 season with a 7-17 record overall, with a 5-11 mark in conference play.
Mount Saint Mary is returning most of its offensive production from a season ago, minus Paul Sienke.
The Knights will welcome in six newcomers, while returning eight players from the 2021-22 squad.
Head Coach: Ryan Kadlubowski returns to the Mount Saint Mary sideline for his 13th season (14th year overall) and owns a 163-152 overall record while going 125-95 against league opponents. Kadlubowski has coached 14 All-Conference picks to date and eight 1,000-point scorers.
Back Court: The Knights welcome back Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.), Ryan Graham (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), Miles Calame (Staten Island, N.Y.), and Jordan Rush (Valhalla, N.Y.).
Yearwood was the Knights 2021-22 lead scorer who averaged 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game a season ago. Graham is back after putting up 7.0 points per contest, while dishing out 24 assists and swiping 18 steals.
Calame appeared in 22 of the Knights 24 games, while Rush saw time in 13 contests.
The Mount Saint Mary backcourt is supported by newcomers Brenden Graham (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), Justin Rivera (Hazlet, N.J.), Rob Tansey (Bellmore, N.Y.), Matthew Walsh (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), and Jack Sassanella (Broadalbin, N.Y.).
Front Court: The Knights front court is filled with returners, as Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.), Jayden Racca (New Fairfield, Connecticut) and Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.) are all back in the fold.
Figueroa had a nice rookie season, putting up 9.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, to go along with 1.2 blocks per contest. Cyran will join him in the front court after averaging 9.5 points while ripping down 5.0 rebounds per game. Cyran connected on triples at a 36.1-percent clip.
Racca made 19 appearances a season ago and averaged 4.4 points per game to go with his 2.2 boards per contest.
The forward group welcomes in Elijiah Barnett (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Matt Monaco (New City, N.Y.).
The Schedule: After playing an exhibition match with Division I St. Francis Brooklyn on Monday, the Knights will play a pair of home games to start the season when they welcome Misericrodia to the Kaplan Center on Monday and CCNY on SAturday afternoon.
Mount Saint Mary will play in the Hudson Valley Tournament on November 18 and 19 against Bard College and Vassar College, respectively.
The Knights will begin Skyline Conference play on December 3 when they go on the road to take on Yeshiva.
Mount Saint Mary will take on Rutgers-Newark and Marywood University to close out the 2022 part of their schedule. The Knightsl open the new year with a pair of road contests against Manhattanville and Maritime, which begins a 13-game stretch of contests against Skyline Conference opponents.
