Knights Continue Road Swing Against Pair Of Conference Foes

MSMC begins three-game conference stretch

Newburgh, N.Y. – Coming off a non-conference road loss at Union on Sunday, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team will close out its four-game road trip this week, traveling to Yeshiva on Tuesday night for an 8 p.m. tilt with the Maccabees, before heading to St. Joseph's L.I. on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Live Stats and Video will be available for both contests.  

At A Glance: The Mount enters the week at 3-2 overall through five games, while winning its lone conference game against Old Westbury on November 19 to hold a mark of 1-0 in Skyline Conference tilts. 

Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) is the Knights lone scorer averaging double digits, as she has put up 10.8 points per game while grabbing 4.4 rebounds per night. Desrats scored 11 points to go along with five rebounds and snatching three steals in the loss to Union. 

Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) and Erin Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) have also led the offense, averaging nine points and eight points per game, respectively. K. Smith has been the Knights primary ball-handler, dishing out 10 assists to rank second on the team. E. Smith is shooting 33-percent from deep, going 5-for-15 through four games. 

As a team, the Mount is averaging 65.4 points per contest on 36.1-percent shooting from the field, while shooting 23.4-percent from three. Defensively, the Knights have allowed 56.2 points per game while forcing 10.8 turnovers per night. 

Previewing Yeshiva: The Maccabees begin the week at 1-3 through four contests and hold a record of 1-2 against conference foes. Yeshiva fell 68-41 on the road against Merchant Marine on November 22 for its second straight loss. 

The Maccabee offense runs through Yuval Nitzan and Shai Rahamim, as Nitzan has averaged 18.0 points per game on 42.9-percent shooting from the field and ripped down 8.8 rebounds per tilt. Rahamim has provided 17.3 points per night on 42.4-percent shooting from the field, including hitting at a 32.2-percent clip from beyond the arc. Daniella Rothman leads the team with a whopping 15.3 rebounds per game, while adding 8.5 points per game. 

The Maccabees are shooting 36.4-percent from the field as a unit and hitting on 26.5-percent of their triple attempts. 

Recent History: The two programs have met 21 times since 2007, with the Mount owning a perfect 21-0 record in those tilts. In their last meeting, the Knights won 94-47 on the road.  

Scouting St. Joseph's L.I.:  The Golden Eagles start the week at 2-1 on the campaign overall and 1-0 in conference games. They beat Baruch 67-47 in their last game on Saturday. 

Alyssa Adomaites is the Golden Eagles go-to scorer, as Adomaites averages 24.0 points per game on 47.4-percent shooting, including 40.0-percent from beyond the arc. She has added 6.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.3 takeaways per game, the latter two being team-highs.  

Lanyah Ford has supplied 19.3 points per game to go along with 8.3 boards per night, a team high. 

As a unit, the Golden Eagles score 70.0 points per tilt, while shooting 38.0-percent from the field, hitting on 22.2-percent of their shots from beyond the arc. 

Recent History: Dating back to the 2008 season, the two sides have met 29 times, with the Mount taking 26 of those meetings. The Knights outscored the Golden Eagles 183-125 over their two meetings a season ago. 

What's Next: Mount Saint Mary will play its final two games at home before winter break against Mount Saint Vincent and The City College of New York on December 8 and December 10, respectively.
