Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team embarks on a three-game week beginning on the road Monday at Hunter before hosting Cobleskill on Wednesday and heading to Yeshiva on Saturday for the Skyline Conference opener. Three Knights are averaging in double-figures through the season's first five games, led by 13.6 points per contest from newcomer
Elijah Barnett (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.). Barnett is shooting 51.8-percent from the floor for the Mount and adds 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.6 assists per contest for the Knights.
Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) is good for nearly a double-double per night for the Mount, pouring in 11.0 points and hauling in 9.8 rebounds per outing. Figueroa converts at just shy of 48-perent from the field, connecting on a team-high seven three-pointers, and adds nearly three blocks per game.
Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.) is good for just over 10 points per game for the Mount and adds 2.4 rebounds to go along with an assist and a steal per game.
Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.) is in the midst of a solid all-around year, scoring 9.0 points and hauling in nearly seven rebounds per night. Cyran joins Barnett with a team-high 1.6 assists per outing.
Mount Saint Mary scores just under 62 points per game on the season while shooting 39.5-percent overall, 23.5-percent from three-point range and 55.8-percent from the free-throw line.
Last Time Out: The Mount suffered a hard fought 68-65 road loss at Russell Sage on Tuesday. The Knights led by as many as 11 points in the first half, but managed just 29 points after halftime as the Gators rallied for the victory.
Figueroa scored a season-high 20 points in the contest and closed out his second double-double of he year with 11 rebounds. Barnett totaled 13 points and four assists in the loss, while Cyran tallied 10 points and collected seven rebounds.
Mount Saint Mary shot just shy of 42-percent overall in the game, with Sage connecting on two more three-pointers than the Knights while outscoring the Mount from the free-throw line 18-3.
A Look At Hunter: The Hawks enter play on Monday at 1-4 overall on the season and are coming off a 120-118 overtime loss to Cobleskill on November 22.
Four Hawks are scoring in double-figures through five contests, led by 19.0 points per game from Luka Jakic who converts at nearly 51-percent from the field. Jakic adds nearly 10 rebounds per game while handing out 1.6 assists to go along with 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks per contest.
Jeremy Montrose is good for 14.2 points per game with Cormac Reilly adding 13.0 points per game. Devon Matthews is good for nearly 13 points per game on the season while playing just under 18 minutes per night.
Hunter averages 101.4 points per game on the season and shoots 36.0-percent overall, 27.1-percent from three-point range and 68.5-percent from the free-throw line.
Recent History: The Knights and Hawks have met in the regular season just twice since the start of the 2016-17 season with the Mount coming away victorious in each of the previous two meetings.
Previewing Cobleskill: The Fighting Tigers come to Newburgh on Wednesday sporting a 5-2 overall record, including the aforementioned 120-118 overtime win at Hunter on November 22.
Andre Starks leads four Cobleskill players scoring in double-figures with 14.1 points per game while adding better than two rebounds and two assists per night. Iziah Pigott is good for 13.0 points and a team-high 4.0 assists per outing, while Justin Feldman chips in 10.9 points per contest.
JaNyve Smith contributes 10.7 points to the scoring attack for Cobleskill with Markel Jenkins leading the team on the glass with better than 10 caroms per game while chipping in nearly eight points per night.
Cobleskill scores nearly 81 points per outing through seven contests and is converting at 45.4-percent overall from the field, 34.2-percent from three-point range and 60.9-percent from the charity stripe.
Recent History: The two teams have met twice in the last two seasons that were played with the Fighting Tigers scoring a victory in Newburgh on December 13, 2019 and the Knights earning a road win at Cobleskill on December 7, 2021.
Scouting Yeshiva: The Knights travel to the Maccabees on Saturday to open conference play, with Yeshiva entering a road tilt at Manhattanville on Tuesday with a 4-3 overall record and 2-1 mark against league rivals. The Macs have won four of their last five overall, including a 61-57 win over Amherst on Sunday.
Zevi Samet leads the Yeshiva scoring attack with 25.0 points per game, shooting at 46.4-percent both overall and from three-point range. Samet adds just over five rebounds per tilt to go along with nearly two assists per game.
Oren Betesh checks in with 13.1 points per game, while Roy Itcovichi supports the offense with just over 11 points per outing.

Recent History: The longtime Skyline Conference rivals have met 28 times since the start of the 2006-07 season with the Mount holding a 17-11 record. The Knights won nine straight decisions in the series from December 14, 2010 through February 19, 2014 with Yeshiva scoring victories in each of the last three meetings and five of the last six.
What's Next: Following Saturday's trip to Yeshiva, the Mount hosts Sarah Lawrence on December 7 before traveling to Purchase on December 10.
