Knights Welcome CCNY To The Kaplan Center Saturday Afternoon

Knights, Beavers in search of first victories of the season

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team plays its second straight home game to open the 2022-23 season when it plays host to the City College of New York Saturday afternoon. Tip-off with the Beavers is set for 1:00 p.m. with Live Stats and Video available for those who are unable to attend.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary opened the season Wednesday night with a 76-54 home loss to non-conference foe Misericrodia. The Knights shot 32.4-percent overall in the contest and converted at a 4-for-27 clip from behind the arc.
 
Four Knights opened the season scoring in double-figures, led by a team-high 12 points from Elijah Barnett (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) in his Mount Saint Mary debut. Barnett finished the night 6-for-11 from the floor, adding an assist.
 
Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.Y.) posted 11 points in the season opener, adding six rebounds, a block and a steal, while Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.) and Ryan Graham (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) each tallied 10 points. Yearwood added five caroms for the Mount with Graham securing two rebounds and swiping a steal.
 
Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) wrapped up the season opener with a team-high seven rebounds and chipped in an assist, a block and a steal.
 
Scouting CCNY: The Beavers opened the season with a hard fought 83-75 road loss at William Paterson on Tuesday night. The Beavers converted at just shy of 44-percent from the floor despite going without a three-pointer in 13 attempts.
 
Three Beavers scored in double-figures on Tuesday, led by 20 points from Yassine Sakhi who finished up 8-for-20 from the floor with four rebounds and three assists.
Daniel Pisczcatowski tallied 13 points on 5-for-13 shooting, matching the team-high with seven rebounds and handing out a pair of assists. Ricardo Dixon came off the bench to pour in 17 points, going 6-for-7 from the floor and 5-for-7 from the free-throw line.
 
Recent History: The only meeting on record since the 2006-07 season came on January 8, 2007 with the Knights overwhelming CCNY 75-48 at the Kaplan Center.
 
What's Next: The Knights will be off until November 18 when it travels to local foe Bard to open the Hudson Valley Classic.
