Knights Look To Extend Unbeaten Streak At Purchase

Knights travel to Purchase Saturday afternoon

Newburgh, N.Y. – Winners of three straight and unbeaten in its last four outings, the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Purchase. Kick-off with the Panthers is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with Live Stats provided for those unable to attend.
 
At A Glance: The Knights have won their last three outings by a combined score of 13-2 and have not suffered a loss since falling to Yeshiva on September 18. Mount Saint Mary enters Saturday's game at 5-4-2 overall and 3-1-1 in Skyline Conference action.
 
After scoring four goals in two conference wins last week, Christopher Maggi (Franklin Square, N.Y.) leads the team with five goals and sits second on the squad with 11 points. Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) holds the team lead and is tied atop the conference leaderboard with seven assists. Wyant has added three goals and paces the Knights with 13 points.
 
Connor Dolye (New Windsor, N.Y.) and Peter Ramirez (New Windsor, N.Y.) have each scored twice for the Mount with Doyle adding an assist for five points. Rob Kaufman (Mullica Hill, N.J.) and Marco Mazzarelli (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) each check in with a goal and an assist for the Knights.
 
Caesar Martinez (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) mans the goal for the Mount and enters Saturday's contest with a 1.27 goals against average and a .774 save percentage. Martinez has stopped 48 shots and has recorded five shutouts for the Knights.
 
Last Time Out: The Knights blanked Farmingdale State on October 1 by a score of 3-0. Maggi scored twice in the contest with Doyle adding his second goal of the season. Martinez picked up his fifth shutout of the year with four saves.
 
Conference Honors: Maggi and Martinez picked up Skyline Conference Weekly Awards on Tuesday. After scoring two goals in each game last week, Maggi was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Martinez finished the two-game stretch last week with nine saves over two games, picking up his fifth shutout of the year in a 3-0 win over Farmingdale State on his way to earning his second Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Previewing Purchase: The Panthers enter Saturday's contest at 6-5 overall, but just 2-3 in Skyline Conference play. Purchase has won its last three contests, including 2-1 victories over both Sarah Lawrence and Maritime.
 
Marion Matute leads the Panthers and is tied for second in the conference with eight goals and has amassed 17 points through 11 contests. Leo Conte and Luca Di Vigni support the offense with three goals and seven points apiece.
 
Ethan Dillon sits atop the team leaderboard with three assists for the Panthers and chipped in seven points, adding two goals.
 
Mario Olmedo and Travis Stella has split time in goal with Olmedo starting six contests and Stella starting the other five. Olmedo holds a 1.04 goals against average and a .786 save percentage while making 22 saves. Stella has made a team-high 38 stops and is working to a 2.87 goals against average and a .717 save percentage. Olmedo has recorded two shutouts to date, while Stella has produced a single shutout for the Panthers.
 
Recent History: Since 2016, Mount Saint Mary and Purchase have met five times with the Knights earning a victory in each contest. Over the five-game stretch, the Knights are outscoring the Panthers 20-3.
 
What's Next: The Knights continue Skyline Conference play next week with a pair of important contests, hosting St. Joseph's-L.I. on Tuesday before traveling to USMMA on Saturday.
