Men’s Soccer To Host Old Westbury In Regular Season Finale

Knights to honor senior class prior to kickoff

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team closes out its 2022 regular season at home on Tuesday night when it hosts Old Westbury in a Skyline Conference match. Prior to kickoff, the Knights will honor seven senior players, including Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.), Christopher Maggi (Franklin Square, N.Y.) Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.), Matt Flanagan (Rhinebeck, N.Y.), Anthony Guglielmo (Setauket, N.Y.), Ismael Bravo (Middletown, N.Y.), and Vito Lombardo (Franklin Square, N.Y.). 

At A Glance: The Mount is coming off a 2-1 win over St. Joseph's Brooklyn last time out, but is 1-1-2 in its last four outings. Overall, the Knights hold a record of 7-5-4 with a mark of 5-2-3 against league rivals. 

The Mount's scoring attack is led by Wyant and Maggi, the former who has totaled nine assists and five goals to lead the Mount in points with 19. Maggi leads the Knights in goals with seven and has tallied 17 points, good for second on the team.  

Doyle and Peter Ramirez (New Windsor, N.Y.) have supported the Knights offense, with Doyle scoring four times and Ramirez three times. 

Between the pipes, Caesar Martinez (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) has played all 1,440 minutes, stopping 70 shots while posting six shutouts. 

Previewing Old Westbury: The Panthers are 1-10-3 overall entering Tuesday's contest, with a 0-7-3 mark in conference play. Last time out they were held scoreless by Manhattanville, losing 3-0. 

Christian Garay leads the Panthers with nine points on the season, recording four goals and an assist. Jessi Vasquez has chipped in three goals to support the offense. 

In goal, James Perciballi has started all 14 games, making 79 saves while posting a 2.07 goals against average. 

Recent History: Dating back to 2007, the Knights are 9-5-2 all-time against the Panthers in this series, having shut them out in each of the last five matchups. 

What's Next: The Skyline Conference Championship commences on October 29 with seeds, matchups and locations announced at the conclusion of all regular season contests.
