Knights Set For Skyline Clashes With Purchase, Old Westbury

Knights look to improve conference standing this weekend

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team returns to conference play this weekend with matches against Purchase and Old Westbury. The Knights host Purchase Saturday afternoon for their Senior Day match before traveling to Old Westbury Sunday evening. Live Stats and Video will be available for both matches for those who cannot attend.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters the weekend with a 9-12 overall record and a 4-3 mark against Skyline Conference opponents. The Knights begin the weekend in a tie for fifth place in the conference standings with Sarah Lawrence.
 
Grace Riddle continues to lead the Mount on both sides of the net, holding the team lead in kills with 271 and digs with 216 while sitting in a tie for first on the team with 32 service aces. Riddle is averaging 3.99 kills per set and just over three digs per frame and chips in 14 total blocks. Riddle enters the weekend leading the conference in both total kills and kills per set.
 
Freshman Erin Lema (Centereach, N.Y.) joins Riddle atop the team leaderboard in aces with 32 on the season and is the only other play on the team with at least 100 kills with 117 to date. Lema sits fifth on the team in digs with 129 and chips in seven total blocks.
 
Senior Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) has handed out 487 assists to date, averaging just under seven helpers per frame. In the midst of a strong all-around year, Cammarata has recorded 33 kills, 28 aces, 146 digs and 12 total blocks to date for the Knights.
 
Sabrina Romano (Glen Cove, N.Y.) is the Mount's leader in total blocks with 20 on the season while chipping in 55 kills with freshman Brooke Lavelle (Staten Island, N.Y.) totaling 19 blocks and 33 kills in her first collegiate season.
 
Scouting Purchase: The Panthers come calling on Saturday with a 3-15 overall record and a 2-6 mark against league rivals. Purchase stopped a six-match losing streak on Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over Maritime.
 
Samantha Fasce leads the way for the Panthers in both kills and total blocks, producing 93 and 10, respectively to date. Lilith Bastek-Ochoa currently holds the team lead in digs with 121.
 
Karina Medina has handed out a team-high 190 assists coming into play on Saturday and also leads the way for the Panthers with 30 service aces.
 
Recent History: Since the start of the 2016 season, Mount Saint Mary and Purchase have met five times with the Knights holding a perfect 5-0 record. The Knights have not dropped a set over that stretch.
 
Previewing Old Westbury: The Panthers enter a non-conference match with Rutgers-Newark on Saturday with a 5-7 overall record and a 3-4 mark against league rivals. Old Westbury has dropped two of its last three decisions, with the lone win coming in a sweep of Maritime on October 13.
 
Clarissa Olivero leads the way for Old Westbury in three categories entering the weekend, holding the team-high in kills with 108, service aces with 24 and total blocks with 30.
 
Rachel Marrero and Juliana Evans have shared the setting duties through the season's first 12 matches with Marrero handing out 146 helpers and Evans totaling 132. Olivia Bauman holds the team lead in digs with 117.
 
Recent History: Since the start of the 2007 season, Mount Saint Mary holds a perfect 17-0 record against Old Westbury and has dropped just three sets to the Panthers over that span.
 
What's Next: Mount Saint Mary closes out the regular season when it travels to Maritime on Tuesday and hosts USMMA on Thursday.
