Knights Open 2022 With Conference Contests Against Sarah Lawrence, Farmingdale State

Winners of three straight, Knights in action for first time since Dec. 16

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team opens 2022 with a pair of Skyline Conference contests this week, traveling to Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday before hosting Farmingdale State on Thursday evening. Live Stats and Video are available for both Tuesday's 7:00 p.m.  contest and Thursday's 6:00 p.m. tilt.
 
Spectator Policy: Per Skyline Conference policy, NO FANS will be permitted at either Tuesday's game at Sarah Lawrence or Thursday's home contest with Farmingdale State. Live Stats and Video will be made available.
 
At A Glance: Winners of three straight contests, the Knights open the New Year at 7-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights earned victories over Sage, St. Joseph's-L.I. and USMMA heading into the Holidays, scoring a 57-44 win at USMMA on December 16 to close out 2021.
 
Mount Saint Mary features a pair of players scoring in double figures through the season's first nine games, led by 15.7 points from Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.). Bojka is shooting 41.1-percent from the floor for the Knights and adds 6.9 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game.
 
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) is good for 11.0 points per night for the Mount on 43.5-percent shooting, including a 43.8-percent mark from three-point range. Smith leads the squad with 3.4 assists per night and chips in 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals per contest.
 
Lauren Derats (Warwick, N.Y.) supports the offense with 9.6 points per game with Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) and Erin Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) chipping in 8.3 and 8.1 points per night, respectively. Keenan paces the Knights on the glass with nearly 11 caroms per night while Smith has made a team best 17 three-pointers.
 
Heading into Tuesday's tilt with the Gryphons, Mount Saint Mary is averaging 72 points per game and outscoring opponents by nearly eight points per outing. The Knights shoot 36.4-percent overall, 30.6-percent from three-point range and 64.7-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Scouting Sarah Lawrence: The Gryphons have been off since an 89-68 victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on December 9 and enter Tuesday's game at 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Skyline Conference play.
 
Three Gryphons are averaging in double-figures to date, led by 17.9 points per game from Kumi Tamura who adds 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Kendall Haymore checks in with 11.6 points per game for Sarah Lawrence, shooting 53.2-percent from the floor to go along with 6.9 rebounds per game.
 
Demitra Loukopoulos scores just under 11 points per game and adds 4.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Camryn Davis fills the stat sheet with 7.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and a team-high 4.5 assists per game, while Jordyn Medina is tied for the team lead in rebounds with 6.9 per game to go along with 7.6 points, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per night.
 
Entering Tuesday, Sarah Lawrence is good for 63.6 points per game while shooting 36.8-percent from the floor, 25.2-percent from three-point range and 56.7-percen from the free-throw line.
 
Recent History: Since the start of the 2017-18 season, the Knights and Gryphons have met six times with the Mount winning each meeting. Over the six-game winning streak against the Gryphons, the Knights are averaging nearly 84 points per game and are winning contests by an average of 49.2 points.
 
Previewing Farmingdale State: The Rams have won three of their last four outings heading into Thursday's game, including an 89-73 non-conference victory over John Jay on December 11. Farmingdale State stands at 4-4 through eight games, including a 2-3 mark in conference play.
 
Layla Mendoza leads the scoring attack for the Rams with 22.0 points per game on 54.3-percent shooting from the floor. Samantha Muller adds 18.5 points per game for the Rams and leads the team with 9.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.0 steals per game.
 
Kalena Ricketts checks in with 12.1 points per game, adding 8.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks while Anna Zaborowska adds 12.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals per outing.
 
Farmingdale State is scoring 65.5 points per game through eight contests and is shooting 38.6-percent overall, 25.6-percent from three-point range and 54.5-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Recent History: The long time Skyline Conference rivals have met 34 times since the start of the 2007-08 season with the Mount holding a 22-12 record. The Mount has won the last five matchups with the Rams, including a 79-47 win at the Kaplan Center on January 4, 2020.
