Newburgh, N.Y. – Looking to extend an eight-game winning streak and remain perfect in conference play, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team begins a three-game road trip Saturday afternoon with a trip to the College of Mount Saint Vincent. At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary heads to the Peter Jay Sharp Center on Saturday with a 12-2 overall record and a perfect 10-0 mark against league rivals. The Knights scored their eighth consecutive victory on Thursday with a 70-61 home win over Manhattanville.
Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) is in the midst of a strong all-around season for the Mount, scoring better than 16 points per game to go along with 7.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per outing. Bojka is shooting 44.3-percent from the floor and is coming off a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double against Manhattanville.
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) checks in with 11.9 points per game, connecting on 48.6-percent of her field goals and just shy of 41-percent of her three-point attempts. Smith leads the Knights with 3.5 assists per game and adds 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per night.
Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) and
Erin Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) support the offensive attack with 9.6 and 9.1 points per game, while
Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) leads the way on the glass with 9.0 caroms per outing. Desrats chips in 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.1 steals per night and Smith has connected on a team-high 26 three-point field goals. Keenan adds 7.4 points per game and better than one assist and one steal per outing.
Through 14 games, Mount Saint Mary is scoring 75.9 points per game while shooting 39.3-percent from the field, 31.4-percent from three-point range and 62.0-percent from the free-throw line.
A Look At The Dolphins: Mount Saint Vincent has won its last four outings and enters Saturday's tilt at 9-3 overall and 7-3 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins last outing resulted in a 68-59 win over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Thursday.
Amber Been paces the Mount in scoring at 17.3 points per game and checks in with better than eight rebounds a game to go along with 4.8 assists and 4.2 steals per contest. Victoria Hanely is next on the scoring list with just under 15 points per game, adding a team-high 8.9 rebounds along with 3.9 assists and 2.7 steals per tilt.
Dez Brown checks in with 10.4 points per game and nearly seven caroms per contest with Melanieann Broderick checking in with 6.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per night for the Dolphins.
Mount Saint Vincent puts up 65.3 points per game through 12 contests on 39.6-percent shooting overall, a 22.2-percent mark from three-point range and a 56.9-percent showing from the free-throw line.
Previous Meeting: The Mount picked up its eighth straight win over the Dolphins on November 23 with a 79-71 home victory. Bojka was one of four players in double-figures for the Knights, finishing with 22 points and 13 rebounds. The Knights knocked down 12 triples in the game, against just three for the Dolphins, and outscored Mount Saint Vincent 17-10 from the free-throw line.
Recent History: Since the start of the 2007-08 season, Mount Saint Mary holds a 22-6 record in the series with Mount Saint Vincent. The Knights have won the last eight meetings with the Dolphins and have not lost to Mount Saint Vincent since a 66-49 defeat in Riverdale on January 4, 2017.
What's Next: The Knights will get their first look at Farmingdale State on January 26 with a 7:00 p.m. road contest with the Rams.
