Knights, Valiants Square-Off Thursday Evening

Teams sit first, second in conference standings

Newburgh, N.Y. – The top two teams in the Skyline Conference standings are set to meet Thursday evening at the Kaplan Center when Manhattanville visits the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with Live Stats and Video available.
 
Spectator Policy: Per Skyline Conference policy, NO FANS will be permitted at Thursday's contest.
 
At A Glance: The Knights are winners of their last seven contests and enter Thursday's showdown with an 11-2 overall record and a perfect 9-0 mark against Skyline Conference opponents. The Knights are coming off a 93-71 victory over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Tuesday.
 
A trio of Knights are scoring in double-figures through the season's first 13 contests, led by 15.7 points from Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.). Bojka, who poured in 24 points in Tuesday's victory, is shooting 43-percent from the floor and adds 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a team-high 2.6 steals per game for the Knights.
 
Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.), who matched her career-high with 21 points against the Bears on Tuesday, checks in with 11.7 points per game to go along with 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals. Smith hands out a team-high 3.8 assists per outing for the Mount.
 
Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) supports the offensive attack with an even 10 points per game after scoring 14 points on Tuesday and contributes 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals per night for Mount Saint Mary.
 
Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) paces the Mount on the glass with 9.0 rebounds per game while Erin Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) scores 9.1 points per game and has drilled a team-high 26 three-point field goals. Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J.) is good for just over six points and four rebounds per game, including two offensive caroms per outing.

Mount Saint Mary has scored at least 90 points on three occasions to date and enters Thursday's contest averaging 76.3 points per game, outscoring opponents by an average of 17.7 points. The Knights are shooting 39.2-percent overall, 30.9-percent from three-point range and 64.6-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Scouting The Valiants: Manhattanville has won its last two outings and three of its last four and brings an 11-2 overall record and a 7-1 mark in league play to the Kaplan Center on Thursday. The Valiants scored a 66-60 road win at St. Joseph's-L.I. on Tuesday night.
 
Spencer Shore leads a balanced scoring attack for Manhattanville with 14.1 points per game to go along with just under five rebounds per night. Faith Johnson-Desilva checks in with 12.1 points per night and contributes 6.1 rebounds, 1.6 steals and a team-high 3.2 assists per game.
 
Ali Mikaele is good for 12.0 points per night for the Valiants, adding 7.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals. Niyona Smith contributes 11.2 points per game and leads the way with 8.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per night, while Claudia Valentine supports the Valiants with 10.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and nearly three steals per game.
 
Manhattanville enters Thursday's tilt scoring 79.5 points per game and a scoring margin of a staggering 27 points. The Valiants are shooting just shy of 41-percent as a team overall, 30.1-percent from three-point range and 67-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Recent History: The Knights and Valiants have met just four times since the start of the 2014-15 season with the Knights winning just once over that stretch. Since Manhattanville rejoined the Skyline Conference the two teams have split their two meetings as league rivals with the Mount winning at the Kaplan Center 65-49 on November 23, 2019 and falling on the road 77-56 on February 8, 2020.
 
What's Next: The Knights start a three-game conference road swing on Saturday afternoon when they travel to the College of Mount Saint Vincent to close out the season series with the Dolphins.
