Purchase, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday following a 6-3 road defeat at the hands of Purchase.
Julia Flynn (Naugatuck, Conn.) and
Carly Green (Holbrook, N.Y.) remained unbeaten in singles play for the Knights.
Flynn and Green both moved to 4-0 for the Knights in singles action with their victories on Saturday. Flynn, who pushed her career record to 10-0, moved to 4-0 this fall with a 3-6, 6-4, 16-14 victory at second singles for the Mount.
Green, who is also off to a perfect 4-0 start, overwhelmed her opponent at the third singles position with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph on Saturday.
In doubles action, the second doubles pair of
Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) and
Victoria Valencia (Floral Park, N.Y.) pushed their record on the season to 4-0. The duo remained perfect with a hard fought 8-5 win for the Knights.
Saturday's loss drops the Mount to 3-1 overall on the season and to 0-1 in conference play. Next up for the Knights is a non-conference match with Sage on Monday. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
