Newburgh, N.Y. – KellyAnn Platt (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored two goals and
Brittany Bornstad (Linden, N.J.) assisted on three tallies as the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team won its conference opener on Tuesday night by a score of 6-0. The Knights had five different goals scorers in the game and six different players with at least one point.
Tuesday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 2-2-1 overall on the season and to 1-0 in league play. The Bears drop their first game of the season, falling to 3-1-1 on the year and 1-1 in league play. Tuesday's win is the fifth straight over the Bears since 2015 with the Knights outscoring St. Joseph's over that stretch 32-1.
First Half
- The Mount got the eventual game winning goal in the middle of the first half on a St. Joseph's Own Goal. A Bear defender tried to block a shot and put it into her own goal at the 20:33 mark of the match to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
- Mount Saint Mary outshot St. Joseph's 9-2 in the opening 45 minutes.
- Caroline Brucato (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was forced to make a single save prior to half.

- Platt pushed the Knights in front 2-0 when she finished off Bornstad's first assist of the game at the 54:10 mark of the contest.
- Platt struck again just over six minutes later when she buried a pass from the left wing from Lauren Engel (Red Hook, N.Y.) at 60:16.
- Meghan Stosch (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored her first career goal at the 65:04 mark of the contest to give the Mount a 4-0 advantage.
- Liz Ellsworth (Suffern, N.Y.) headed home a corner kick start by Bornstad at 69:36 for her first tally of the year to push the Knights in front 5-0.
- Jackie Lindsay (Baldwin, N.Y.) finished off the scoring and tucked home a free kick started by Bornstad at 87:15 to give the Knights the final six goal advantage.
- Mount Saint Mary outshot St. Joseph's 18-1 after halftime and took eight corner kicks in the second half.
For The Knights
- Platt moved into the team lead in goals with two and points with four.
- Bornstad moved into the team lead in assists with three helpers on Tuesday and sits second on the team in points.
