Newburgh, N.Y. – Following the cancelation of the 2020 season due to the Covid-19 pandemic,
Mike Strano announced his program's 2021 slate Monday. The full schedule features three tournaments and 11 Skyline Conference contests. As in the spring, the schedule is subject to change based any new guidance from New York State, the Skyline Conference and/or the NCAA.
The 2021 schedule sees the Mount take to the road for the first 15 matches of the season, including trips to Keuka, local rival New Paltz and Ramapo for multi-day tournaments. The Knights will open the season at Keuka against Wells on September 3 before taking on the host Wolves and Hilbert the following afternoon.
September 10 sees the Mount take the short trip to New Paltz to take on the Hawks before the Knights tussle with Sage and Alfred on September 11. The final tournaments has the Knights in Mahwah, N.J. taking part in the Ramapo Roadrunners Invitational September 24-25.
In between the New Paltz and Ramapo tournaments, the Mount will play six matches on the road, including trips to SUNY Delhi, William Paterson and Skyline Conference rivals the College of Mount Saint Vincent, the United States Merchant Marine Academy and Purchase.
Mount Saint Mary closes out the opening month of the season with its first home match of the campaign when it welcomes Farmingdale State to the Kaplan Center on September 28. The Knights remain home to host Manhattanville, the 2019 Skyline Conference Champion, to open October before hitting the road again to take on St. Joseph's-L.I. and Sarah Lawrence on October 9 and 12.
St. Joseph's-Brooklyn visits the Kaplan Center on October 14, before the Knights return to the road for a tri-match at Hunter on October 16 and a midweek conference tilt with Yeshiva on October 19.
The Knights wrap up the regular season with three of the final six matches at home, welcoming Old Westbury to Newburgh on October 21 and Maritime on October 23 in a tri-match with Pratt. The regular season concludes with non-conference matches at New Jersey City University and a tri-match at Rowan.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the top-six teams in the conference standings will take part in the Skyline Conference Championship with the right to represent the league in the NCAA Tournament on the line. The First Round is scheduled for November 2 with the semifinals set for November 4. The conference champion will be crowned on November 6.
Mount Saint Mary finished the 2019 season with a 13-17 overall record and a 6-5 mark in league play, earning the sixth seed in the Skyline Conference Championship.
