Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team was handed its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon following a 6-3 road defeat at Farmingdale State. Jessalyn Goetz (Bethel, N.Y.) and Julia Flynn (Naugatuck, Conn.) picked up singles wins in the match for the Mount.
 
Mount Saint Mary found itself down 2-1 following doubles competition on Saturday with the third pair of Goetz and Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) scoring the team's lone doubles victory. The duo dispatched their opponents from Farmingdale State 8-5 to move to 2-0 on the season.
 
In singles action, Goetz cruised to a 6-1 6-2 victory at the fourth position and moved to 3-0 on the season, including 2-0 at the fourth flight. Flynn added an equally impressive 6-1, 6-2 win for the Knights at the fifth slot, improving her singles record to an unbeaten 3-0 on the season.
 
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 2-1 both overall and in Skyline Conference play on the season. Next up for the Knights is a home match with Manhattanville on Monday. First serve with the Valiants is slated for 5:00 p.m.
