Knights Tip-Off 2021-22 Campaign Tuesday Against Lehman

Knights in action for first time since February 25, 2020

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team returns to action for the first time in 624 days on Tuesday night when it welcomes non-conference foe Lehman to the Kaplan Center to open the 2021-22 season. At A Glance: The Knights last played a game in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2020 Skyline Conference Championship on February 25, 2020. The Knights closed out the 2019-20 season with a 9-17 overall record and a 7-9 mark in league play, finishing in a tie for third in the Skyline Conference North Division.
 
Mount Saint Mary looks to replace its top three scorers from the 2019-20 season, including 1,000-point scorer Kendall Francis.
 
The Knights welcome back six players from the 2019-20 season and will turn to 11 newcomers to make an immediate impact when the season opens on Tuesday.
 
Head Coach: Ryan Kadlubowski returns for his 12th season (13th year overall) at the Mount and enters the year with a 156-135 overall record at the Mount, including a 120-84 mark against Skyline Conference rivals. Kadlubowski has mentored 14 All-Conference picks to date and eight 1,000-point scorers.
 
Back Court: Mount Saint Mary welcomes back Miles Calame (Staten Island, N.Y.), Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.), Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.), Nick Lucas (Sparta, N.J.) and Ryan Purcell (Middletown, N.J.) to the guard group in 2021-22.
Sienke is the team's top returning scorer for the Knights after going for 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in 2019-20. Sienke started all 26 games for the Knights and shot 53.7-percent from the field and was tied for third on the team with 15 three-point field goals made. Sienke added 42 assists, 28 steals and seven blocks for the Mount.
 
Lucas started two of his 25 appearances in 2019-20, averaging 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest. He nailed nine three-pointers for the Mount, swiped 14 steals and blocked three shots.
 
Purcell appeared in 22 games for the Mount in its last season, knocking in 11 triples and shooting 44-percent from bonus distance. Yearwood saw action in 24 contests in his rookie season, canning five triples while adding nine assists and five steals. Calame closed his freshman season appearing in seven games for the Mount.
 
Newcomers to the backcourt in 2021-22 include: Mike Dedda (West Chester, Pa.), Jaxon Baker (Barnegat, N.J.), Jack Lotito (Staten Island, N.Y.), Ryan Graham (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), Luke Crittenden (Red Hook, N.Y.) and Jordan Rush (Valhalla, N.Y.).
 
Front Court: Zack Swaby (New Windsor, N.Y.) is the lone returner to the front court from 2019-20 and rounded out his sophomore season appearing in each of the Mount's 26 contests. He averaged just shy of three points and two rebounds per game, shooting 41.2-percent from the floor.
 
Supporting the front court in 2021-22 are newcomers J.P. Egan (Lansdale, Pa.), Jayden Racca (New Fairfield, Conn.), Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.), Tom Spero (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.).
 
The Schedule: After hosting the Lightning on Tuesday, the Mount will travel east on I-84 to take on Western Connecticut in its first road game on Saturday afternoon. The non-conference slate continues when the Knights take part in the Hudson Valley Tournament on November 19-20, taking on Bard at New Paltz to open the event before hosting Vassar to close out the weekend.
 
The Knights tussle with former conference rival Sage on November 23 leading into Thanksgiving and travel to Hartwick after the Holiday weekend before opening Skyline Conference play against USMMA and Sarah Lawrence.
 
Cobleskill, RPI and Marywood round out the 2021 portion of the schedule before the Knights play within the Skyline Conference in the 2022 portion of the slate. 2022 is highlighted by a visit from preseason nationally ranked #2 Yeshiva on February 26.
