Knights, Rams Set For Skyline Conference Championship Final

Two teams meet in final for ninth time since 2010

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team will make its 10th appearance in the last 11 seasons in the Skyline Conference Championship Final and square-off with Farmingdale State for the ninth time in the final over that stretch when the third seeded Knights and top seeded Rams kick-off at 12:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

At A Glance: The Knights stand at 11-6-2 overall on the season after producing a 2-0 win over Sarah Lawrence in the First Round and a tight 1-0 win over Manhattanville in the Semifinal Round of the 2021 Skyline Conference Championship.
 
After scoring her team leading third game winning goal of the season in the win over Manhattanville on Wednesday, KellyAnn Platt (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Raina Quinones (West Babylon, N.Y.) are tied for the team lead in goals with seven. Each player has scored the deciding goal in the Championship to date with Quinones potting the game winner late in the first half against Sarah Lawrence on October 30.
 
Brittany Bornstad (Linden, N.J.) and Liz Ellsworth (Suffern, N.Y.) are tied for third on the team in goals with five apiece with Bornstatd holding the team lead in assists with nine and points with 19. Ellsworth checks in fourth on the team in points with 12.
 
Nikki Carter (Southington, Conn.) and Megan Stosch (North Babylon, N.Y.) have each registered three goals on the season for the Mount with Chloe Kennedy (Middletown, N.Y.) ranking second on the squad in helpers with four.
 
In goal, Christina Kakavas (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) has started 14 of the 19 contests to date and has stopped 66 opponent shots. Kakavas has registered seven shutouts on the season, including in each of the last four contests. She holds an .835 save percentage and a 0.89 goals against average with both marks leading the Skyline Conference.
 
Last Time Out: The Knights battled past second seeded Manhattanville in the Semifinal Round of the Skyline Championship, 1-0. Platt scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute and Kakavas turned aside three shots to record the shutout for the Knights.
 
Scouting The Rams: Farmingdale State earned the top seed in the Championship after going unbeaten in conference play and enters Saturday's Final on a five game winning streak, including a 4-0 triumph over the College of Mount Saint Vincent in the other Conference Championship Semifinal.
 
Jazzmin Terrell and Julissa Martinez are each tied for the team lead with 12 goals on the season. Terrell adds six assists to her resume to sit atop the team leaderboard in points with 30. Martinez checks in second with 28 points, while Meagan Murdocco paces the team with eight assists, adding two goals for 12 points.
 
Francesca Robiglio also checks in with 12 points, scoring four goals and assisting on four others, while Celina Schenk enters the weekend with 10 points on the strength of three goals and four assists.
 
Lindsey Jolly and Chloe Kensell have split the majority of the goalkeeping minutes for the Rams with Jolly playing 837:35 and Kensell seeing a team-high 947:42 worth of action. Kensell has posted four shutouts to date and holds an .813 save percentage and a 0.57 goals against average while making 26 stops.
 
Regular Season Meeting: The Knights and Rams met in Newburgh on October 9 with Farmingdale State coming away with a 4-1 victory. The Rams broke open a 1-0 halftime lead with three second half goals. Terrell scored twice after halftime with Tara Lyons supplying the other second half goal.
 
Kennedy converted a penalty kick for the Knights in the 67th minute to get the Mount on the board with its lone goal of the game.
 
Recent History: Since 2007, the Knights and Rams have met 22 times with the Mount posting a 5-14-3 record, including a 0-3-2 mark in the last five matchups. The last win in the series for the Knights came in a 2-1 home victory in 2017.
 
Recent Skyline Conference Championship History: The Knights will make their 10th appearance in the Championship Final in the last 11 seasons and have hooked up with Farmingdale State in nine of those appearances. The only times the Mount and Rams haven't met in the Championship Final since 2010 were in 2015 when they Knights clashed with St. Joseph's-L.I. and in 2019 when the Mount was edged in the Semifinal Round by Manhattanville.
 
What's At Stake: The Knights are in search of their first ever league title, while the Rams are trying to win their fifth straight league crown and 12th in the last 13 seasons.
