Busy Week Begins With Trip To Hartwick

Knights host USMMA between road games at Hartwick, Sarah Lawrence

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team returns to action with three contests this week. The Knights close out November with a non-conference game at Hartwick set for 7:00 p.m. before opening Skyline Conference play at home against the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The Knights finish off the week with a trip to league rival Sarah Lawrence on Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. matinee. At A Glance: The Knights are in search of their first win of the season heading into Monday's tilt with the Hawks and enter the game at 0-5 following a hard fought 73-67 non-conference overtime loss to Sage on Tuesday.
 
Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.) scored at least 20 points in a game for the third straight outing against the Gators and leads the Knights in scoring with 16.8 points per night. Yearwood is shooting 47.5-percent from the field overall and 44-percent from behind the arc and is adding 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
 
Ryan Graham (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) is coming off a career-high 18 points against Sage and is scoring just under 13 points per game for the Knights. He adds 3.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game through the first five contests of his career.
 
Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.) chips in just over nine points and five rebounds per game while Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) hauls in 8.8 caroms per game and swats nearly two blocks per night. Mike Dedda (West Chester, Pa.) hands out a team-high 3.3 assists per game and grabs just under four rebounds per outing for the Mount.
 
Through five games, Mount Saint Mary is scoring 63.8 points per game and is converting at 37.4-percent from the field, 30.6-percent from three-point range and 69.1-perceng from the free-throw line.
 
A Look At Hartwick: The Hawks enter Monday's game with an identical 0-5 record and are coming off a 71-54 loss to Skidmore on November 22.
 
Hartwick features four players scoring at least nine points per game, led by an even 10.0 from Cooper Francis. Francis is also the team leader with 5.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
 
Anthony Girard and Steven White both average 9.8 points per contest with Liam Drennan chipping in 9.0 points per contest.
 
Hartwick averages 62.6 points per game through five contests on 36.1-percent shooting overall, 31.2-percent shooting from three-point range and a 66.7-percent conversion rate from the free-throw line.
 
Recent History: The two sides have split two meetings since the start of the 2007-08 season with the Hawks posting a 49-47 home win on November 27, 2007 and the Knights scoring a 67-60 win at the Kaplan Center on December 3, 2019.
 
Previewing USMMA: The Knights look for their first home win of the season on Wednesday when the Mariners come calling with a 2-2 overall record. USMMA is coming off a 76-69 win over Curry on November 21.
 
Three Mariners are scoring in double-figures to date, led by 12.0 points from Bryce Bristow who is in the midst of a strong start to the season with 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
 
DeMarcus Spivey is scoring 11.0 points per game with Cam Baldwin chipping in 10.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per tilt. Blaine McDonough leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game and supports the offense with just over nine points per contest.

USMMA is scoring 77.8 points per game and is shooting 42-percent from the field, 33.3-percent from three-point range and 62.1-percent from the free-throw line. The Mariners are swiping better than seven steals per game and are blocking 4.5 opponent shots per outing.
 
Recent History: The Knights and Mariners have split the last 10 meetings in the series with the Mount winning each of the last two matchups. The Mount posted a 62-53 road win on January 14, 2020 and most recently a 71-56 home win on February 15, 2020.
 
Scouting Sarah Lawrence: The Gryphons enter their conference opener against Maritime on Wednesday with a 1-4 overall record. In its last outing, Sarah Lawrence was toppled by Stevenson, 92-53, on Saturday.
 
Liam Barry leads the scoring attack for the Gryphons with 12.5 points per game, shooting 48.8-percent from the floor. Barry adds just under six rebounds per game, including 2.5 offensive caroms per night, for Sarah Lawrence.
 
Justin Bailey leads the way on the glass with 6.6 rebounds per game while chipping in 7.6 points per outing, with Amos Grey handing out 2.5 assists per outing for the Gryphons.
 
Sarah Lawrence scores 63 points per game through the season's first four contests, shooting 36.6-percent overall, 33.3-percent from three-point range and 67.1-percent from the free-throw line.
 
Recent History: Mount Saint Mary has won nine of the 12 meetings in the series, including six of the last eight. The Knights stopped a two-game skid to the Gryphons on February 18, 2020 with a 82-72 overtime home victory.
 
What's Next: Following a three-game week, the Mount will travel to Colbleskill on December 7 and host RPI on December 11 leading into the Holiday Break.
