Men’s Basketball Takes On Bard, Vassar As Part Of Hudson Valley Tournament

Knights hosts Vassar Saturday evening

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team will play a pair of local rivals when it takes on Bard at New Paltz on Friday and hosts Vassar on Saturday as part of the 2021 Hudson Valley Tournament. Live Stats and Video will be available for each game of the event.

Tournament Schedule: Friday: Mount Saint Mary vs. Bard (at New Paltz) – 6:00 p.m., Vassar at New Paltz- 8:00 p.m.; Saturday: Bard vs. New Paltz (at MSMC) – 4:00 p.m., Vassar at Mount Saint Mary – 6:00 p.m.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary enters Friday's meeting with Bard at 0-2 overall after dropping non-conference contests to Lehman and Western Connecticut to open the season.
 
Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.) leads the Mount through two contests with 10.0 points per game, shooting 43.8-percent from the field and 44.4-percent from three-point range. Ryan Graham (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) checks in with 9.5 points per outing, converting at 40.0-percent from the floor.
 
Jayden Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.) leads the team on the glass, hauling in 6.0 rebounds per game with Connor Cyran (Garfield, N.J.), Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.) and Mike Dedda (West Chester, Pa.) each good for 5.0 caroms per outing. Dedda leads the team with 3.5 assists per contest and chips in 1.0 steals per game.
 
As a team, Mount Saint Mary shoots 34.8-percent overall and 24.5-percent from three-point range. The Knights score 54.0 points per game while surrendering 75 points per contest.
 
Scouting Bard: The Raptors enter Friday's matchup with a 2-0 overall record, coming off a 78-64 win over Northern Vermont-Johnson on November 7. The Raptors are looking for the first 3-0 start in program history. 
 
Bard is averaging 85.5 points per contest through two games and is hoisting 31 three-pointers per game. The Raptors are shooting 31.9-percent from bonus distance, making nearly 12 triples per game, and are converting at just over 39-percent overall. Bard is forcing 27 turnovers per contest and converting those into 33 points per game.
 
Four Raptors are averaging better than 10 points per contest to date, led by 17.0 points from Azriel Almodovar. Almodovar also paces Bard with 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per outing and is shooting 52-percent from the floor and 57.1-percent (4-for-7) from three-point range.
 
Elliot Harris is good for 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game with Lazaros Panagiotounis checking in with 13.5 points per night. Greg Farrow is good for 10.5 points off the bench for the Raptors.
 
Recent History Against Bard: The old Skyline Conference rivals have not meet since November 29, 2016 with Bard claiming a 71-63 win at the Kaplan Center. In the last 12 meetings with the Raptors, the Knights hold a 10-2 record.
 
A Look At Vassar: The Brewers open Friday's contest with New Paltz at 1-2 overall and are coming off a convincing 95-50 victory over Hartwick on Tuesday.
 
Vassar is averaging just over 73 points per game as a team while shooting 46.4-percent from the field and 33.3-percent from three-point range.
 
Zach Johnson and Avni Mustafaj lead the scoring attack with 12.7 points per game apiece with Johnson shooting better than 51-percent from the field. Johnson averages a double-double through three games with 11.0 boards per night, including four offensive rebounds per game.
 
Jack Rothenberg is handing out better than four assists per game for Vassar to go along with 9.3 points per game and is good for just over one theft per contest.
 
Recent History: The two local foes have not played since 2012 with the Mount posting a 61-44 victory in Poughkeepsie.

What's Next: Following Saturday's tilt with the Brewers, Mount Saint Mary will play host to Sage on November 23.
