Women’s Tennis Set To Host Three Conference Rivals

Knights begin week against Yeshiva Tuesday

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team begins the home stretch of the regular season with important home matches against Yeshiva, Manhattanville and Farmingdale State this week. The Knights begin the home stand against Yeshiva on Tuesday and it continues against the Valiants on Thursday and concludes with Farmingdale State on Saturday afternoon.

At A Glance: The Knights begin the week with a 4-2 overall record and a 0-2 mark against league rivals. Most recently, the Mount dropped a 6-3 decision to league rival St. Joseph's-L.I.
 
Julia Flynn (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Carly Green (Holbrook, N.Y.) are putting together standout season for the Knights, with each sitting at 6-0 in singles competition. Flynn has posted her mark at the second slot, and is 12-0 in her career, while Green is unbeaten at the third position. The duo has teamed up at the first doubles flight for a pair of wins.
 
Katrina Imperio (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) and freshman Victoria Valencia (Floral Park, N.Y.) are also having solid seasons to date for the Mount. Imperio is 3-2 in singles action, playing at the fourth, fifth and sixth positions. Valencia is also 3-2, including a 3-1 mark at the fifth position.
 
In doubles action, the second pair of Valencia and Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) is unbeaten in six decisions heading into Tuesday's match with the Maccabees. Imperio and Gracie Monahan (Deer Park, N.Y.) have won three of their four matches at the third slot for the Knights.
 
A Look At The Maccabees: Yeshiva will play its season opener on Tuesday and is coming off a spring season that saw it post a 1-4 record.
Previewing The Valiants: Manhattanville heads to Newburgh on Tuesday with a 2-3 overall record and a 1-2 mark against league rivals. The Valiants have dropped their last two decisions, falling 8-1 to Farmingdale State and 4-3 to Purchase.
 
Scouting Farmingdale State: The Rams head into a Wednesday match with Yeshiva winners of their last four outings and with a 5-3 overall record and a 3-0 mark in conference play. The Rams most recently posted an 8-1 win over Sarah Lawrence on Friday.
 
Anastasia Hoffman is 5-3 for the Rams at the top singles flight, while Rosa Lettieri is 7-1 at the second position. At third singles, Lien Collings is sporting a 5-3 record for the Rams.
 
In doubles play, Hoffman and Collings are 3-1 at the top flight in four decisions, while Susana Parion and Mia Murrell have won three of their four matches at the third slot.
 
Recent History: Mount Saint Mary is 9-6 in the last 15 outings against Yeshiva and has won the last two matches ups, a 5-4 win in 2019 and an 8-1 triumph last spring.
 
Mount Saint Mary has dropped two of the three matches with the Valiants since the start of the 2010 season, with the last victory coming in a 7-2 decision on April 3, 2011.
 
The Knights and Rams have split the last 16 meetings, with each side winning eight times. The Knights won seven straight from 2007-2012, while the Rams have won the last three decisions and five of the last six. The last win for the Knights came in a 6-3 victory in 2017.
 
What's Next: The Knights will close out the regular season with a non-conference match against Hartwick and a league matchup with Sarah Lawrence.
