Zach Decker (Red Hook, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week in Men's Soccer it was announced Monday evening. The honor is the first of the season for Decker and third weekly honor for the program in 2021.
Decker led the Mount to a 1-0-1 week in Skyline Conference play last week, allowing just one goal in two games. Over two contests, Decker posted a 0.45 goals against average and a .929 save percentage while making 13 stops.
In a 1-1 draw at Farmingdale State on Wednesday, Decker turned aside seven shots and on Sunday in a tight 1-0 win over Yeshiva, Decker blanked the Maccabees with six more saves.
Through 11 games this season, Decker holds a .775 save percentage and a 1.40 goals against average while making 55 stops. Decker enters the week tied for the conference lead in shutouts and ranks fifth in goals against average and sixth in save percentage.
At 5-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play, the Mount puts a four-match unbeaten streak on the line Tuesday when it travels to St. Joseph's-L.I. Kick-off with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
