Women's Basketball Begins Busy Week With St. Joseph's-Brooklyn

Knights enter Tuesday's contest winners of eight straight

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team begins a busy three-game stretch when it plays host to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Tuesday evening at the Kaplan Center at 6:00 p.m. The Knights will continue conference action at home against the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. tip.
 
At A Glance: The Knights enter the week winners of its last eight contests after defeating Old Westbury 85-60 on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Mount currently sit at 14-3 overall as well as a perfect 12-0 in Skyline Conference play and have won 43 straight regular season conference contests.
 
Two-time Skyline Conference Player of the Week Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) leads four double digit scorers for the Knights as she is averaging 19.2 points per game, good for second in the Skyline Confernece, to go along with 6.6 rebounds per contest. She is third on the team in assists with 38 and second in steals with 35. Sophomore Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) chips in 11.5 points per outing and leads the team with 8.9 rebounds per contest while also leading the team in blocks with 17.

Sophomore Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) is adding 11.1 points per contest and is second in assists with 41. Senior Lyndsay Pace (Cranford, N.J.) is adding just over 10 points per game while Pace leads the squad in assists with 53 and steals with 36. Sophomore Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J.) leads the team in offensive rebounds with 45 on the season while adding 7.2 points per game and 38 assists.
 
The Mount is averaging 70.6 points per game this season on 39.4-percent shooting from the field and 29.2-percent from the three-point line. The Knights are limiting teams to 54.1 points per game on 34.0-percent from the field and 27.3-percent from three.
 
Last Time Out: The Mount used a strong fourth quarter surge to win its eighth straight contest on the road against Old Westbury 85-60. Keenan tied her career high with 22 points and registered her fifth double-double of the season for the Knights.

Desrats led the way with nine points at the half while Tabasco and Bojka each tallied six points. The Mount assisted on nine of its 13 made field goals in the first half. Davida Warren recorded 13 points and eight rebounds in the first 20 minutes for the Panthers.

Mount Saint Mary shot 39.4-percent from the field in the first half but was just 3-for-14 from three-point territory. Old Westbury finished the half at 32.1-percent and made two threes while also outscoring the Knights by six at the free throw line.

Bojka finished the second half with 18 points while Keenan added 17 as the Mount finished 55.5-percent from the field and 6-for-12 from three-point territory. Micah Browne added eight points for the Panthers as they shot 34.4-percent in the half and made just two threes while turning it over 13 times.
 
Keenan finished her strong afternoon with 22 points and 10 rebounds while adding three assists and three steals. Bojka continues her solid junior campaign with 25 points and six rebounds with Desrats adding 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Pace led the team in assists with seven on the day.

The Knights finished shooting 47.8-percent from the field and buried nine three-pointers while the Panthers finished at 32.8-percent and made four threes. The Mount held the edge in points in the paint by 10 and scored 27 points off turnovers. Mount Saint Mary finished with 20 assists on 33 made field goals.

Scouting St. Joseph's-Brooklyn: The Bears start the week at 10-7 overall and 8-4 in Skyline Conference play. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn is coming off a 57-54 victory at home against Manhattanville on Saturday.

The Bears are led by the conference's leading scorer, Kelly O'Donnell, who is averaging 19.9 points per game as well as 8.3 rebounds per contest. She also has added 41 assists on the season. Emma Kiley is averaging 12.0 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game while Lauren Quesada is adding 11.2 points per outing.

Desrae Sequeira leads the team in assists with 108 as well as steals with 32. Kiley is the team's leading shot blocker with 58 so far this season while Jamie Provino is the leader in three-point field goals made with 32.

The Bears are averaging 70.2 points per game on the season on 37.6-percent shooting from the field as well as 30.4-percent from three-point territory. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn is allowing 69.0 points per contest on 35.8-percent from the field and 30.3-percent from three-point range.

Analyzing Mount Saint Vincent: The Dolphins check in at 9-7 overall and 7-5 in the Skyline Conference after defeating Purchase 67-53 on Saturday afternoon.

DarNeisha Brice continues to lead the team in scoring at 18.8 points per game as well as assists with 37. Victoria Hanley is adding 12.6 points per contest and 5.9 rebounds per game while Aria Rheams leads the squad in rebounding with 9.3 and chips in 11.6 points per game.

Rheams also leads the team in steals with 34 and Hanley leads in blocks with six. Gabriella Goldman and Brice are the only two players on the Dolphins who have made double-digit three-point field goals on the season for Mount Saint Vincent. 

The Dolphins are averaging 62.8 points per game on 35.8-percent shooting and 28.5-percent from three-point range. On defense, they are allowing 59.3 points per outing on 34.9-percent from the field and 31.6-percent from three-point territory.

Previewing St. Joseph's-L.I.: The Golden Eagles enter the week at 4-12 overall and 2-9 in conference play. They will travel to Manhattanville and Sarah Lawrence before hosting the Knights on Saturday afternoon.

St. Joseph's-L.I. is led by freshman guard Alyssa Adomaites, who is averaging 19.4 points per game in eight games of action. She has added 24 assists and 22 steals on the season. Megan Steinman is adding 13.9 points per contest and Alyssa Signor is chipping in 13.6 points per outing.

Catherine Siounis leads in rebounding with 8.0 per game while Signor is adding six rebounds per contest. Julianna Knice leads in assists with 52 on the season while Steinman is the leading three-point shooter with 45 makes on the season.

The Golden Eagles are averaging 64.8 points per contest on 36.1-percent from the field and 30.5-percent from three-point range. Defensively, they are allowing 68.5 points per outing on 37.4-percent from the field and 25.5-percent from three-point territory.

What's Next: The Knights return to the Kaplan Center to play host to Yeshiva on Wednesday, February 5. Tip-off with the Maccabees is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
