Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team will take to the road to square-off with Skyline Conference South Division foes Farmingdale State and Old Westbury, taking on the Rams Wednesday night and the Panthers Saturday afternoon. At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary begins the week at 4-10 overall and 2-3 in Skyline Conference play following a 78-70 home loss to Purchase on Saturday afternoon. Wednesday night's affair at Farmingdale State is just the Mount's fifth road game of the season, with the Knights holding a 1-3 record away from the Kaplan Center.
Kendall Francis (Great Neck, N.Y.) continues to lead the Knights in scoring and ranks fifth in the Skyline Conference with 18.7 points per game. Francis is coming off a season-high 31 point performance against Purchase on Saturday in a game he scored his 1,000
th career point. Francis is second on the team with 4.0 rebounds per game and paces the Mount with 39 three-point field goals, shooting 38.6-percent from long distance, and 4.1 assists per game.
Juniors
Jameson Morton (Woodstock, N.Y.) and
Ethan Fox (Wallingford, Conn.) are also in the midst of strong seasons for the Mount. Fox is shooting 54.7-percent from the field and is scoring 8.9 points per game while leading the team with 6.2 rebounds per outing and 1.4 blocks per contest. Morton checks in with 10.7 points per game on 46.6-percent shooting and is handing out just shy of three assists per game for the Knights.
Senior
Tristan Millett (Allentown, N.J.) is tops on the team with 2.5 steals per game to go along with better than two assists and just under four points per game.
Paul Sienke (Washington, D.C.) is scoring nearly eight points per game for the Knights and is shooting just over 52-percent from the field.
Mount Saint Mary ranks second in the Skyline Conference in scoring defense, allowing just under 70 points per game. The Knights are outscored by six points per contest and enter the week shooting 40.4-percent from the floor, 29-percent from three-point range and 68.6-percent from the free-throw line.
Last Time Out: The Mount cut an 18-poiint first half deficit to a single point twice in the second half, but could not pull even with Purchase in an eight-point loss to the Panthers on Saturday. Francis led all scorers in the game with 31 points, notching his 1,000
th career tally, with Fox and Morton checking in with 11 and 10 points.
Purchase featured four players in double-figures led by 18 points from Jorge Perdomo. Maxx Miller came off the bench to score 17 points with Elijah Harris chipping in 15. Elijah Lott rounded out the game with 16 points, a game-high 14 rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Scouting Farmingdale State: The Rams enter Wednesday's tilt with a 7-8 overall record and an even 3-3 mark in Skyline Conference play following an 87-75 loss to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon in Riverdale.
Hunter Schenkel paces the Farmingdale State offensive attack with nearly 16 points per game with Anthony Miller, Jr. supporting the scoring with 11.3 points per outing. Ryan Kennedy and Jermaine Fraser check in with 9.8 and 9.7 points game, respectively.
Fraser averages a near double-double with a team-high 9.3 rebounds per contest to go along with just under two steals per game. Miller leads the team with 3.9 assists per night, while De'Shawn Todman is good for nearly two blocked shots per night.
The Rams are scoring 72.4 points per game entering the week and are shooting 40.3-percent from the field, 35.1-percent from three-point range and 71.8-percent from the charity stripe. Farmingdale State is hauling in 43.3 rebounds per game and is second in the conference in rebounding margin at 7.7.
Recent History: Mount Saint Mary and Farmingdale State have met 27 times since the start of the 2006-07 season with the Rams winning 20 of those matchups. Farmingdale State has won the last eight meetings, with the Mount's last winning coming in a 68-64 home decision on January 10, 2015.
Previewing The Panthers: Old Westbury enters Saturday's clash with the Knights on a five game winning streak and with a 9-6 overall record and a 5-1 mark against league rivals. The Panthers have not lost in January with their last blemish coming to the University of St. Joseph on December 29.
A balanced scoring attack is led by Pedro Marquez who is good for better than 18 points per night on 46.7-percent shooting from the floor. He has canned a team-high 38 three-point field goals and is handing out a team-high 4.5 assists.
Justin Alleyne-Washington is scoring 17.8 points per game for the Panthers and has knocked in 24 triples, while Charles Wingate is averaging 14.5 points per game with 28 triples. Wingate leads the Skyline Conference with 3.4 steals per outing for Old Westbury.
Pierrce Perry is also in the midst of a strong season for the Panthers, averaging 8.5 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game. Perry leads the Skyline Conference in blocked shots with 2.3 per outing.
Old Wetsbury scores 77 points per game, good for fifth in the conference, and shoots 42.9-percent overall, 30.9-percent from three-point range and 66.1-percent from the free-throw line.
Recent History: Old Westbury and Mount Saint Mary have met 25 times since the start of the 2006-07 season with the Panthers winning 15 times. The Knights have dropped the last two meetings, including a 91-74 loss in the First Round of the Skyline Conference Championship last season.
