Women’s Soccer Hosts Yeshiva, Ithaca In First Home Games Of 2019

Knights looking for first win of the season

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team will play on the new turf at Kaplan Field for the first time in 2019 when it welcomes Skyline Conference rival Yeshiva to Newburgh for a Friday morning contest, before hosting Ithaca on Saturday afternoon. Live Stats and Video will be available for both contests for those who are unable to attend.
 
At A Glance: The Mount stands at 0-2 overall on the season after dropping both of its games at the Roanoke Invitational last weekend. The Mount was topped by the host Maroons 3-0 in the season opener, before falling 7-2 to #11/20 Lynchburg to close out opening weekend.
 
Senior Chrissy Cannella (Cornwall, N.Y.) leads the scoring attack for the Mount with three points after scoring her first goal of the season and adding an assist in the game against Lynchburg. Freshman Julia Accetura (Prospect, Conn.) is the only other Knight with a tally on the young season, scoring her first career goal against Lynchburg last Sunday.
 
In goal, junior transfer Cyan Scott (Buena Park, Calif.) has made the start in both contests to date. In 180:00 of action, Scott has made 12 saves for the Knights, including a career-high seven against Lynchburg on Sunday.
 
Scouting Yeshiva: The Maccabees enter Friday's Skyline Conference opener at 1-2 overall, falling to Fisher (Mass.) and the City College New York around the team's first win of the season over The King's College (N.Y.).
 
Elizabeth Pavel leads the offensive attack for Yeshiva with three goals and six points, with Malky Perlberger adding a tally for the Macs.
 
Shani Kravetz has played all 270:00 in goal to date for Yeshiva and has made 16 saves, including eight against CCNY in the team's latest outing.

A Look At The Bombers: Ithaca, who sits #22 in the D3Soccer.com preseason rankings and is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, enters Saturday's tilt in Newburgh with a 1-1-1 overall record through three contests. The Bombers opened the season with a tight 2-1 loss to Endicott before topping Gordon 5-1 and drawing Wilkes on Wednesday, 0-0.
 
Five different players have found the back of the net for Ithaca thus far, with Delaney Rutan pacing the team with a pair of tallies. Rutan has added an assist on the season to make her the team's top point producer with five on the season. Alex Epifani enters the weekend with a team-high three assists and is second on the squad in points.
 
Sara Jakobsze has been the only goalkeeper used by the Bombers over the season's first three games and she has put together a 0.91 goals against average and a .667 save percentage while making six saves.
 
What's Next: After two straight home games, the Knights will travel to Montclair State for a non-conference contest on September 11. Kick-off with the Red Hawks is slated for 4:00 p.m.
