Knights Open Busy Week Against Mount Saint Vincent, SUNY Delhi

MSMC plays three of four matches this week at home

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team begins a four-match week on Monday with a road tilt at the College of Mount Saint Vincent before welcoming SUNY Delhi to the Kaplan Center for a non-conference match on Tuesday. Live Stats and Video are available for each match for those who cannot attend.
 
At A Glance: The Mount posted a 2-1 record last week, sweeping league rival Purchase and non-conference foe Bard, while losing a five set heartbreaker to Hartwick. The Knights begin the week at 5-7 overall and 1-0 in Skyline Conference play.
 
Freshman Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) continues her strong rookie campaign and stands as the team leader in kills with 107 and service aces with 32. Riddle is also one of two Knights with better than 100 digs, lifting 109 through the first 12 matches of her career, adding 10 total blocks which is good for second on the team.
 
Senior Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) checks in with 71 kills for the Knights and paces the Mount at the net with a team-high 29 total blocks. Junior Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) is third on the team in kills with 66 and digs with 74 and is tied for fourth on the team, along with Renne Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.), in service aces with 12.
 
Sophomore Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) anchors the back row for the Knights with a team-high 176 digs and has chipped in with 16 assists and 15 service aces. Freshman Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) holds the team lead in assists with 141, while Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) has handed out 140 assists to go along with 13 aces.
 
League Leaderboard: Burke and Barbara each rank second in the Skyline Conference in total blocks and digs per set, respectively. Burke sits 0.01 blocks per set out of the league lead, checking in with 0.73 per frame for the Knights, while Barbara is lifting 4.63 digs per set. Riddle ranks 11th in the league in kills per set with 2.49 and 12th in service aces per set with 0.74.
Last Time Out: The Mount split a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at Bard. The Mount topped the host Raptors in straight sets before falling in five hard fought sets to Hartwick.
 
In the opener, Burke put away 10 kills and added four aces to lead the Knights. Kralik chipped in with eight winners for the Mount and 11 digs, while Cammarata handed out 20 assists and lifted 12 digs. Barbara finished off the win against Bard with 25 digs and joined Burke with four service aces.
 
In the five set defeat to Hartwick, Riddle led the offensive attack with 13 kills and added two aces and seven digs. Kralik contributed eight more winners and nine digs, while Barbara posted a team-high 18 digs. Cammarata finished the afternoon with a career-high 33 assists and chipped in with six digs.
 
Scouting The Dolphins: Mount Saint Vincent, the 2018 Skyline Conference Champion, enters Monday's contest with a 7-5 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. The Dolphins are coming off a 3-0 win over John Jay on Friday and have three of their last four outings overall.
 
Tara Maloney leads the Mount with 101 kills and adds a team-high 113 digs. Dez Brown, who leads the conference in total blocks per set, has recorded 23 blocks, while Lindsay DeBoer paces Mount Saint Vincent with 19 service aces. Madison Gale averages nearly eight assists per set, handing out 256 helpers in 33 frames.
 
Maloney ranks fourth in the conference in kills per set with 3.06, with Gale sitting fourth in assists per set.
 
Previewing The Broncos: Delhi comes to town sporting a 6-3 overall record, but has dropped three of its last four outings. Most recently, the Broncos were swept by Farmingdale State and MCLA on Sunday.
 
Witchney Clersainville has put away 85 kills and is averaging nearly three kills per set, while pacing the Broncos with 26 total blocks. Erica Prindle has handed out 208 assists to lead the team and sits atop the team leaderboard in service aces with 22. Shelby Nolan and Lexi Taylor are the team leaders in digs with 133 and 102, respectively.  
 
Recent History: since 2007, the Knights have won 11 of the 16 matches contested with the Dolphins, including a 3-0 win in 2018. Mount Saint Mary has dropped four of the last six to the Dolphins overall, however, including a four set loss in the 2015 Skyline Conference Championship Final.
 
Tuesday will mark the fourth meeting between Mount Saint Mary and SUNY Delhi since 2016, with the Knights winning each of the previous three meetings.
 
What's Next: The Knights conclude a three match home stand on Saturday when they welcome Maritime and Ramapo to the Kaplan Center. The Knights and Privateers will square-off at 11:00 a.m. with the Mount and Ramapo closing out the day at 3:00 p.m.
