Men's Soccer Completes Road Trip At Rutgers-Newark, Manhattanville

Knights return to action following 1-0 loss to Middlebury

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team completes its three game road trip as the Knights head to Rutgers-Newark on Monday and conference foe Manhattanville on Wednesday. Kick-off with the Scarlet Raiders is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. while the contest with the Valiants is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start
 
At A Glance: The Knights dropped a tight 1-0 decision to #RV/RV Middlebury last Tuesday. The loss dropped the Mount to 3-4 overall.
 
Joey Dolan (Highland, N.Y.) and Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) are tied for the team lead in goals with three apiece as Joseph Bacalhau (Woodbridge, N.J.) has the team high in assists with two and has added a goal. Junior Joseph Mesoraca (Oceanside, N.Y.) picked up his first weekly award of the year as he was named the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week last Monday.
 
Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) has started six of the seven games in goal for the Mount this season. He has posted a 1.84 goals against average and has made 23 saves and recorded one shutout. Sean Madden (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) started the other game for the Knights, making three saves in 76:50 minutes of action.
 
Last Time Out: The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team was shutout on Tuesday night as the Knights dropped a 1-0 decision to non-conference foe Middlebury. Rapp made five saves in the defeat.
 
The Mount's best opportunity to score came in the fourth minute when Dolan made a pair of nice moves before his quick shot was denied by Panther goalkeeper Ryan Grady. Middlebury finished the first half with a 6-1 edge in shots as well as owning the only two corner kicks of the first 45 minutes.
The Knights had a couple of opportunities throughout the remainder of the game, but Grady turned aside shots Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) and Wyant to preserve his third shutout of the season. Middlebury finished the game with a 14-5 lead in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
 
Scouting Rutgers-Newark: The Scarlet Raiders sit at 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC on the season after defeating TCNJ 2-1 on Saturday.

Anthony Oliveira leads the team in goals with four as Juwan Ash is second with three on the year. 11 different players have found the back of the net for Rutgers-Newark. Ten different players have recorded assists as four different players are tied for the team lead with two.
 
Andres Medina has started seven of the eight games in net for the Scarlet Raiders as he has posted a 1.43 GAA and has made 36 saves. Rutgers-Newark is 4-1 at home this season.
 
Previewing Manhattanville: The Valiants head into Wednesday's contest with a 4-2-1 record and are 1-0 in the Skyline. Manhattanville defeated Yeshiva 6-2 on Sunday evening.
 
Pablo Bravo Olle leads the Valiants in scoring with four goals as Nico Diaz is the leader in points with 10 as he has registered three goals and four assists. Eli Pardo has also scored three goals for Manhattanville.
 
Patryk Siwiec has started six of the seven contests in goal for Manhattanville as he has posted a 1.81 goals against average while making 28 saves. The Valiants enter the contest on Wednesday with a three game winning streak.
 
What's Next: The Knights return home for a Skyline Conference contest with St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday. Kick-off with the Bears is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Kaplan Field.
