Women’s Volleyball Travels To Bard For Non-Conference Tri-Match

Knights posted 3-0 win in Skyline opener on Wednesday

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team steps back out of conference on Saturday for a non-conference tri-match at Bard. The Knights will tussle with the host Raptors at 11:00 a.m. and with Hartwick at 1:00 p.m. Live Stats and Video will be available for both matches for those who cannot attend.
 
At A Glance: Mount Saint Mary opened the Skyline Conference schedule in impressive fashion on Wednesday with a 25-8, 25-12, 25-21 road win at Purchase. The victory was the second in the last three outings for the Knights and moved them to 4-6 overall and 1-0 in Skyline Conference play.
 
Freshman Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) continues to lead the Mount offensive attack through the first 10 matches of her career, leading the team in kills with 91 and service aces with 27. Riddle ranks second on the squad in digs with 96 and total blocks with six.
 
Senior Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.) paces the Mount at the net with 27 total blocks to go along with 56 kills, good for second on the team. Junior Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) checks in with 50 kills, 11 service aces and 54 digs, all good for third on the team.
 
Senior Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) has handed out a team-high 140 assists to go along with 23 kills, 13 aces and 51 digs, while freshman Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) has handed out 88 helpers. Sophomore Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) has lifted a team best 133 digs to go along with 12 assists and 11 service aces.
 
League Leaderboard: Burke continues to lead the Skyline Conference in blocks per set with 0.84 per frame, while Barbara has slipped to second in the conference in digs per frame with 4.43. Riddle sits 11th in the league in both kills per set (2.60) and service aces per set (0.77).
 
Last Time Out: The Mount opened league play with a sweep at Purchase, winning for the 13th straight time over the Panthers since 2007 without dropping a set. Kralik led the offensive attack with nine kills, while Riddle put away five winners and added five aces. Cammarata handed out 19 assists and led the team with six digs.
 
Overall, Mount Saint Mary finished with the advantage in kills 27-10, service aces 14-3 and total team blocks 2-1. The Knights hit .195 as a team in the win, while Purchase was held to a -.127 effort.
 
Scouting Bard: The Raptors enter the weekend at 3-5 overall and have dropped their last three matches, including a 3-1 decision to Sage on Wednesday.
 
Mikala L'Hote holds the team lead with 73 kills, while Jewel Smith leads the way with 197 assists and 21 service aces. Emily Anastasi and Smith are atop the team leaderboard in digs with 186 and 103, respectively, while Lilian O'Donnell has posted a team best seven total blocks.
 
Previewing Hartwick: The Hawks begin play on Saturday with a 7-5 overall record, but are coming off a 3-0 loss to Elmira on Wednesday. Colette Maloney led the offensive attack with 11 kills and closed out a double-double with 10 digs.
 
Maloney paces Hartwick with 137 winners to date to go along with 13 service aces 148 digs and 18 total blocks.
 
Kayley Ericson holds the team lead with 374 assists entering the weekend, while Celia Ganon paces the squad with 29 service aces. Katie Boak has lifted a team-high 191 digs, with Toria Betelak posting the team lead with 26 total blocks.
 
What's Next: Mount Saint Mary returns to Skyline Conference play on the road at 2018 league champion the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Monday before hosting SUNY Delhi on Tuesday in just its second home match of the season.
