Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Soccer team returns to action Saturday morning when it heads across the Hudson River to take on local foe Vassar. Kick-off in Poughkeepsie is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. with Live Stats and Video available for those who cannot attend.
At A Glance: The Knights have dropped three straight contests and have not scored a goal since a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Ithaca on September 7. The Mount enters the weekend at 1-5 overall.
Thirteen different Knights have found the scoring column through the first six games, led by five goals from senior
Chrissy Cannella (Cornwall, N.Y.). Cannella has added an assist to sit atop the team leader board in points with 11.
Lauren Engel (Red Hook, N.Y.) and
KellyAnn Platt (Staten Island, N.Y.) have each found the back of the net three times for the Mount, with Engel sitting second on the team in points with seven.
Brittany Bornstad (Linden, N.J.) is the Mount's top distributor, racking up a team-high four assists.
In goal, junior transfer
Cyan Scott (Buena Park, Calif.) has played 450:00 of a possible 540:00 and has made 21 saves. Platt has played one game in goal, stopping four shots against Union in the Mount's last outing.
Last Time Out: The Mount played host to Union on September 14 and suffered a 2-0 loss to the Dutchwomen at Kaplan Field. Union scored late in both halves to earn the victory, while holding a 14-8 advantage in overall shots and a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
Scouting Vassar: The Brewers enter the weekend at 2-3-1 overall and are coming off a 1-0 road loss at Montclair State on Wednesday. The Red Hawks found the game winning goal in the 89
th minute on their 13
th shot of the contest.
Emma Tanner and Gabi Tulk have each scored a pair of goals for Vassar with Tanner also leading the way in assists with two and points with six. Savannah Cutler with three points is the only other Vassar player with a goal and a helper on the year.
Fiona Walsh has seen all the action in goal through six games for Vassar. She has made 31 saves, including five in the Montclair State contest, and holds a 1.55 goals against average and a .756 save percentage.
What's Next: The Knights host Hartwick on Wednesday night to begin a busy week that sees them play at Sarah Lawrence on September 28 and at New York University on September 29.
