Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team returned to the court on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 6-3 non-conference home loss to visiting Sage. Senior
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore
Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) earned singles wins for the Knights.
Carnovale continued to shine at the top singles flight for the Knights, scoring her 38
th singles win for the Mount on Saturday. She picked up a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at the top flight to move to 2-0 on the young season.
Murray scored her first victory of the year and moved to 1-1 on the season with a fourth singles win for the Mount. She battled to a 6-2, 6-3 victory for the Knights.
The Mount suffered losses in two of the three doubles contests on Saturday, but the top pair of Carnovale and
Victoria Clay (Saint James, N.Y.) won for the first time in 2019. The duo picked up a tough 8-5 victory over the Gators top pair to move to 1-1 on the season.
At 0-2 overall on the year, Mount Saint Mary will search for its first win on Sunday afternoon when it welcomes Pratt to Newburgh. First serve with the Cannoneers is set for 1:00 p.m.
