Men's Soccer Opens Up Skyline Conference Play With Yeshiva

Knights look to snap two-game skid

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Soccer team returns home to open Skyline Conference play against Yeshiva on Wednesday evening. Kick-off with the Maccabees at Kaplan Field is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Live stats and video will be available for those who are unable to attend tonight's contest.

At A Glance: The Knights lost back to back contests at the Best Western Plus Cardinal Classic hosted by SUNY Plattsburgh. The Mount dropped a 4-1 contest to William Paterson on Friday and then lost a 6-1 decision to Plattsburgh on Saturday. Mount Saint Mary enters Wednesday's contest at 2-3 overall.

Joey Dolan (Highland, N.Y.) and Matt Wyant (Beacon, N.Y.) led the Mount in goals with two apiece and Joseph Bacalhau (Woodbridge, N.J.) has one goal to go with the only two assists for the Knights. Dolan leads the Knights in shots with 15 as Connor Doyle (New Windsor, N.Y.) is second with nine.

Tyler Rapp (East Berne, N.Y.) has started all five games and played 402:40 out of a possible 450:00 in net. Rapp has posted a 2.24 goals against average and has made 17 saves. Sean Madden (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) and J.C. Varrasi (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) have each seen time in goal for the Knights

Last Time Out: The Knights dropped a 6-1 contest against SUNY Plattsburgh in the second game of the Best Western Plus Cardinal Classic.

Wyant scored the lone goal in the contest as the Cardinals held a 1-0 lead into the halftime intermission as the Knights were outshot 9-3 by Plattsburgh. Corner kicks were tied at three apiece in the first half. Plattsburgh State outshot the Knights 15-4 in the second half and held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. 

Wyant led the Knights in shots with two as five other players recorded a shot for the Mount. Rapp took the loss in goal as he made six saves in 74:30 minutes of action. Varrasi made three saves in relief in his Mount Saint Mary debut.

Scouting Yeshiva: The Maccabees are 2-1 on the season after dropping a 5-0 contest to New Jersey City on Friday. Yeshiva has defeated Delaware Valley and York (N.Y.) so far this season.

Zachary Stauber, Alberto Benhamu, and Jess Rom have each scored a goal for the Maccabees this season as Stauber and Ethan Fettaya have an assist apiece.

Sagi Badash has started two of the three games for Yeshiva and has made 16 saves while posting a 0.48 goals against average. Nicolas Dlugach has made five saves on the season and started the other game for the Macs.

What's Next: The Knights hit the road for non-conference contests with Middlebury on September 17 and Rutgers-Newark on September 23. The game with the Panthers is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. while the contest with the Scarlet Raiders is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
