Women's Lacrosse Takes Conference Loss Against Farmingdale State

DiMare finds the back of the net three times

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team dropped its second straight Skyline contest on Saturday as the Knights lost 16-5 on the road against Farmingdale State. Sophomore Alyssa DiMare (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored a team-high three goals in the defeat.

The Rams scored the first 11 goals of the game as Courtney Gendels found the back of the net four times while Sam Shelton and Kristen Shine each scored twice during the run. Providence Gilkey (Shirley, N.Y.) tallied the first goal for the Knights at the 7:32 mark of the first half on an assist from Megan Shalvey (Blauvelt, N.Y.).

The Mount was outshot 21-2 in the first half and 16-2 in shots on goal. The Rams won in draw controls at 10-4 and picked up nine more groundballs than the Knights in the first half. Mount Saint Mary was held for 2-for-13 in clears.

DiMare scored the second goal for the Knights early in the second half before Farmingdale State scored four straight goals to push its lead to a game-high 12.

The Mount scored the final three goals of the game as DiMare scored two more times, once on an assist from Shalvey, and Shalvey then found the back of the net on a pass from Nicole Cervone (Shirley, N.Y.).

DiMare and Shalvey each finished with three points for the Mount while Gilkey and Anne Dolan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) each picked up three groundballs. Julissa Revilla (Carmel, N.Y.) had a team-high two caused turnovers and six different players won a draw control for the Knights in the contest.

Gendels finished the day with five goals while four other players scored twice for the Rams. Haley Perez picked up five groundballs and three different players had two caused turnovers. Hayley Kirby had a game-high seven draw controls and Shelton added six draw controls.

Jackie Finkel (Warwick, N.Y.) took the loss in goal for the Knights while making four saves in 48:07 minutes of action. Iyana Hudson earned the win for Farmingdale State and made one save.

Farmingdale State finished the contest with a 26-6 shots advantage as well as a 21-6 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams picked up 10 more groundballs and won the draw control battle 17-6.

At 0-8 overall, the Knights begin a three game homestand against St. Joseph's-L.I. on Tuesday night. First draw with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Kaplan Field.
