Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team dropped a Skyline doubleheader on the road on Saturday afternoon against Farmingdale State. The Knights lost game one 6-1 and then lost a tight 2-0 contest in the nightcap.

Neither team could get much going in the first three innings before the Mount loaded the bases with one out. in the top of the fourth on a single by
John Santana (Warwick, N.Y.), an error and a walk. However, the Rams got a 6-4-3 double play to end the Mount Saint Mary threat.
Farmingdale State struck first when Vincent Napolitano smacked a two run homerun to left field in the fourth to give the Rams a 2-0 lead. In the fifth, Steven Burke singled home Jason Conti and Michael Amandola drove a RBI single to left field to score Burke to push the lead to 4-0.
The Knights scratched out its only run in the seventh when
Tom Huvane (Eastchester, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Morgan McCarthy singled home a run in the seventh and then the Rams pulled off a double steal to push the lead to 6-1.
Sal Rizzo (Smithtown, N.Y.) took the loss for the Mount as he threw six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and struck out four. Burke picked up the win for Farmingdale State as he tossed 7.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits.
Five different Knights had a hit in the contest while
Nick Rizzo (Smithtown, N.Y.) had the lone run scored. Burke and Vincent Rice each had two hits for the Rams and Conti finished with two runs scored.
Farmingdale State 2 - Mount Saint Mary 0
Game two turned into a pitcher's duel as both teams only managed three hits apiece on the contest. The Rams scored the only two runs of the contest in the third inning as Conti drove in McCarthy with a RBI single with one out. Amandola drove in the second run on a sacrifice fly to right field.
Mount Saint Mary never got a runner past second base in the nightcap as
Chris McLaren (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.) had two hits, including a double to lead off the game for the Knights.
Nick Zestanakis (Bayside, N.Y.) took the tough luck loss for the Mount, tossing six innings and allowing two unearned runs and just two hits. Nicholas Rooney threw a complete game shutout, allowing three hits over seven innings of work.
Michael DiGiovanni (Shirley, N.Y.) had the other lone hit for the Knights while Conti, Rice and Ryan DePalma had the three hits for Farmingdale State.Â
At 8-11 overall and 2-6 in the Skyline, the Knights concludes its road trip against Yeshiva tomorrow afternoon. The doubleheader with the Maccabees is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start at Overpeck Park in New Jersey.
