Purchase, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College Baseball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader in its regular season finale against Purchase on Monday evening. The Knights won 2-0 in game one and then fell 9-0 in the nightcap.

The Mount scratched out a run in the first inning on a
John Santana (Warwick, N.Y.) RBI double that drove in
Steven Mirra (Wallingford, Conn.), who reached on a one out walk.
The Knights added a second run in the bottom of the fifth when
Robert Brust (Shirley, N.Y.) scored on a Purchase fielding error. Purchase's best scoring opportunity was in the top of the seventh as Nick Lasala and Glennd Jarrin led off with back to back singles. Following a sacrifice bunt,
Sal Rizzo (Smithtown, N.Y.) got two flyouts that couldnt't produce a run to end the threat.
Rizzo earned the win as he threw eight shutout innings, allowing six hits while striking out six.
Matthew Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) picked up his first save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth. Santana finished the game 2-for-3 with a RBI and
Jack Goodwin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) added two hits for the Mount.
CJ Owens took the tough luck loss as he finished with a eight inning complete game, allowing six hits on two runs (one earned). Patrick Wallace and Lasala each finished with two hits for Purchase.

The Panthers scored early and often in game two as they jumped out a 2-0 lead following an error that scored both Wallace and Lasala. Dylan Flynn added a RBI single in the second to add a third run.
A Brian Cunningham RBI single added a run in the third and another RBI single by Flynn pushed the lead to five in the fourth inning.
Purchase added four runs in the fifth as Gregory Walsh had a two RBI single and Flynn knocked in his third and fourth runs of the game on a triple to right center.
Anthony Collura (Franklin Square, N.Y.) took the loss for the Knights as he pitched three innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and struck out two.
Joe Galasso (Plainview, N.Y.) and
Ryan Larkin (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) combined for two scoreless innings in relief. Mirra, Santana and
Coleman Barnes (New Hampton, N.Y.) each had a hit for the Mount.
Nicholas Torres earned the complete game shutout for Purchase as he allowed only three hits while striking out six. Flynn finished 3-for-4 with four RBI, Cunningham was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Walsh added two hits, two runs scored and two RBI.
Monday's split concludes the season for the Knights at 13-17 overall and 7-11 in Skyline Conference play.
