Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Tennis team saw its four match winning streak stopped with an 8-1 loss to league rival Farmingdale State on Tuesday. The second doubles pair of
Shane Terry (Southampton, N.Y.) and
Matt Gallo (Clark, N.J.) scored the team's lone win of the night.
The middle doubles pair of Terry and Gallo outlasted its opponents from Farmingdale State with an 8-7 (7-4) win on Tuesday. The win pushes the pair's record on the season to 7-2 overall on the season and to 5-1 against Skyline Conference rivals.
In the singles competition, sophomore
Jaden Tiriolo (Cheshire, Conn.) suffered his first loss of the season at the third position. He was outlasted in a tight, hard fought match by Daniel Kafka by scores of 4-6, 6-3, 0-1 (9-11). The loss drops Tiriolo to 10-1 on the season and to 5-1 against league rivals.
Tuesday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 8-3 overall on the season and back to the .500 mark in league play at 3-3. Next up for the Knights is a trip to Western Connecticut on Wednesday. First serve with the Colonials is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
