Almodovar finishes day with two hits

Kissimmee, Fla. – The Mount Saint Mary College Softball team continued its trip to Florida with a pair of losses on Sunday, falling to Endicott 5-0 and Rowan 8-0. Senior Amanda Almodovar (Goshen, N.Y.) picked up a hit in each game for the Knights.
 
Endicott 5 – Mount Saint Mary 0
The Knights were held to just two hits against the Gulls, with Almodovar and Morgan O'Neill (Little Falls, N.J.) each singling. O'Neill led off the home half of the second with a base hit and Almomdovar reached on a two-out single in the third.
 
The Gulls got all the scoring they would need in the second when Lauren Misiaszek scored on a throwing error for the early 1-0 lead. Endicott moved its advantage to 2-0 in the sixth on a Madison Mucci sacrifice fly and opened the game up with three more runs in the top of the seventh to close out the scoring. Mucci produced a two-run single in the frame for the Gulls.
 
Endicott outhit the Mount 8-2 in the contest with Misiaszek, Gina DeMilt and Hannah Llewellyn all recorded a pair of safeties. Misiaszek scored three times for the Gulls with Mucci finishing up 1-for-3 with a trio of RBI.
 
O'Neill suffered the loss in the circle for the Knights, allowing just a single unearned run on five hits in 5.0 innings of work. She struck out seven and did not walk a batter in the appearance. Maggie Oram spun the shutout for Endicott, striking out four in the complete game victory.
 
Rowan 8 – Mount Saint Mary 0
The Knights' offense was stifled for a second time on Sunday, with the Profs limiting the Mount to just two more singles. Victoria Santomauro (Eastchester, N.Y.) singled with two outs in the fifth for the Mount's first hit of the contest and Almodovar followed with a single to give the Mount a runner in scoring position for the first time in the contest.
 
Rowan scored a single run in the second that proved to be the deciding tally and added six tallies in the third and one more run in the fourth. Kelly Duffy and Christina Gaurino each drove in runs with doubles in the big third frame for the Profs.
 
Rowan outhit the Mount 9-2 in the contest, with eight different players recording a hit. Jesse DeDemonico finished up 2-for-2 with a run with Duffy going 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
 
MacKenzie Hymes (Middletown, Del.) took the loss for the Knights in the circle, allowing four earned runs on four hits in 4.0 innings of work. DeDeominco earned the win with 4.0 shutout innings, striking out eight.
 
At 0-4 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary continues its southern swing on Monday against McDaniel and Bethel.
