Purchase, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team lost its third straight game on Thursday evening as the Knights dropped a 16-6 contest to Manhattanville. Junior
Courtney Condron (Franklin Square, N.Y.) scored three goals to lead the Knights in the defeat.
The Valiants broke the game open early and often as they proceeded to score the first 10 goals of the game over the first nine minutes of the contest. Lara Keenan scored four goals during the 10-0 run for Manhattanville. Condron scored the first Knights goal of the contest at 18:12 mark of the first period.
After two more Manhattanville goals, Condron found the back of the net once again on a free position goal for her second of the night. The Valiants scored three more goals before the half to take a 15-2 lead into the halftime intermission.
The Knights scored the first three goals of the second half as
Nicole Cervone (Shirley, N.Y.) scored a free position goal while Condron and
Jackie Lindsay (Baldwin, N.Y.) each netted a goal before the 11:26 mark. The Valiants found the net one more time late in the second half before Lindsay buried her second goal of the night while a man up with ten seconds remaining in the game.
Condron led the way with three goals, two caused turnovers, one ground ball and one draw control. Lindsay added two goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Cervone chipped in one goal and
Megan Shalvey (Blauvelt, N.Y.) had the lone assist for the Knights.
Keenan and Brialee Logue led the way with four goals apiece for Manhattanville and Ally Petricca netted three goals on the evening. Melissa O'Mara had a game-high three assists while Keenan and Bella Marchiselli each picked up four ground balls. Keenan also won 14 draw controls on the evening and caused three turnovers along with Diana Piacquadio.
Jackie Finkel (Warwick, N.Y.) made seven saves in the loss and
Grace Monahan (Deer Park, N.Y.) made three saves in relief and had a team-high three ground balls. Marchiselli earned the win in goal for the Valiants making nine saves on the night.
Following tonight's contest, the Knights drop to 0-3 overall. Next up for the Knights is a trip to Wellesley to take on the Blue. First draw with Wellesley is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
