Women’s Basketball Ready To Take On Farmingdale State, Sarah Lawrence

Knights look to endure nine game winning streak, unbeaten conference record

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Basketball team continues the Skyline slate when they play host to Farmingdale State on Saturday and then hit the road to take on Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday evening. The Knights and Rams are scheduled to tip at 1:00 p.m. while the contest with the Gryphons is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.

At a Glance: The Knights have won nine consecutive games and are unbeaten at 14-0 in the Skyline Conference after defeating Yeshiva 76-37 on Wednesday evening.

Kayla Cleare (West Hempstead, N.Y.) continues to lead a balance scoring attack with 11.8 points per game, Katie Smith (Goshen, N.Y.) is second on the team in scoring with 10.8 per game and Elizabeth Limonta (Stewart Manor, N.Y.) has averaged 9.5 points in her two games since her return to action.
Limonta is the leading rebounder with 8.7, Cleare averages 8.1 per game and Annie Keenan (Nesconset, N.Y.) adds 6.3 boards per contest. Smith is the leader in assists with 61, Desrats has 48 and Maite Gritsko (Milford, Conn.) has 35 on the season. Toriana Tabasco (Hillsdale, N.J) leads in steals with 30, Keenan has 25, and Gritsko has 21 on the season. Cleare owns the team lead in blocks with 24 and Limonta has 12 on the season.

The Mount is averaging 64.4 points per game, good for third in the conference in scoring offense, on 39.2-percent shooting from the field and 29.1-percent shooting from three. They have allowed only 50.1 per night on 30.2-percent shooting and 25.6-percent shooting from the three-point line, ranking second in the Skyline.

Last Time Out: The Mount rattled off its ninth consecutive win and remained unbeaten in Skyline Conference play as the Knights defeated Yeshiva 76-37.
Cleare led a quartet of double digit scorers with 18 points, finishing the contest 9-for-12 from the field. Limonta finished the night with 11 points and 10 rebounds, good for a double-double. Lauren Desrats (Warwick, N.Y.) and Lyndsay Pace (Cranford, N.J.) each added 10 points apiece and Morina Bojka (Prospect, Conn.) finished with six points and nine rebounds.

Smith and Desrats each had a game-high five assists, Cleare chipped in eight rebounds and Annie Keenan, Tabasco and Limonta each had three steals.

Mount Saint Mary finished with 19 assists on 32 made field goals and shot 41.0-percent as a team. They knocked down seven triples, compared to Yeshiva's five, and outscored Yeshiva by three at the free throw line. The Knights held the Maccabees to 25.9-percent from the field and forced 25 turnovers. The Mount finished the night outscoring Yeshiva 27-3 in points off turnovers and converted 17 second chance points. The Knights outrebounded the Macs 52-40 and outscored them in the points in the paint 36-6.

A Look At Farmingdale State: The Rams are 6-14 (6-7 Skyline) on the season, ranking sixth in the conference standings, following a 90-26 win over Sarah Lawrence on Thursday.

Destiny Hurt leads Farmingdale in scoring with 18.9 points per game, in 12 games played. Nia Miller is next with 13.7 and leads in assists with 109 on the season. Alexis Hunter leads the way on the boards with 10.7 per contest.

Hurt and Hunter each have 28 helpers on the year while Miller leads in steals with 48, Hunter has 32 and Hurt has 31. Hunter also leads in blocks with 23.

Farmingdale State is eighth in the conference in scoring offense with 53.9 points per game and fourth in scoring defense, allowing 62.5 per contest. The Rams are dead last in the conference in three-point field goal percentage defense, allowing 32.7-percent from three.

Scouting Sarah Lawrence: The Gryphons have struggled to a 1-20 (0-15 Skyline) record this season following a 90-26 loss against Farmingdale State on Thursday.

Camryn Davis is the leading scorer with 14.1 points per game, good for ninth in the conference, and Emmamazy Prior is the lone other double digit scorer with 12.8 points per contest.

Melanie Coleman leads the Gryphons in rebounding with 8.8 boards per game while Prior rips down 7.6 rebounds per game and Davis averages 6.2 caroms per outing. Davis is also the assist leader with 58 on the season and the steals leader with 55. Coleman leads the team in blocks with 23 and Prior has 11 on the year.

Sarah Lawrence is last in the Skyline in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The Gryphons are averaging 47.8 points per game while allowing 78.9 points per contest.

What's Next: The Knights are off until Tuesday, February 12th when they travel to Patchogue to take on St. Joseph's-L.I. Tip-off with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
