Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Basketball team hits the road for the first time this season when it travels to the University of Rochester to take part in the Chuck Resler Tournament. The Knights open the event on Friday afternoon against Heidelberg and will close the weekend on Saturday against either the host Yellow Jackets or Misericordia. At A Glance: The Knights are coming off a 68-58 home loss to Western Connecticut on Monday in both teams' season opener. The Knights shot 39.2-percent from the floor against the Colonials and went 10-for-24 from bonus distance in the game.
Junior
Jameson Morton (Woodstock, N.Y.) paced two Knights in double-figures with a game-high 20 points, going 8-for-16 from the floor with a pair of three-pointers. Morton finished off a strong game with four assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Senior
Kendall Francis (Great Neck, N.Y.) was the only other Mount player in double-figures with 13 points, knocking in a trio of three-pointers and going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. He joined Morton with a team-high four assists on the night and chipped in three rebounds and a team-high five steals.
Freshman
Chris Yearwood (Red Hook, N.Y.) came off the bench to convert a pair of three-pointers in his collegiate debut with senior
Tristan Millett (Allentown, N.J.) chipping in five points, three assists and a pair of steals for the Knights.
The Mount Saint Mary defense forced 30 Western Connecticut turnovers on the night and turned those in to 23 points. The visitors controlled the glass in the game, outrebounding the Mount 45-24 overall and 16-5 on the offensive end to close the night with a 14-2 advantage in second chance scoring.
Welcome Home: Head Coach
Ryan Kadlubowski heads back to his alma mater for the second time as a head coach in his 11
th season at the Mount. Kadlubowski was part of three NCAA Tournament Teams in his career, including a team that advanced to the Final Four during the 2001-02 season.
Scouting Heidelberg: Although the Student Princes played an exhibition game against Ohio University on November 9, they will officially open the 2019-20 campaign on Friday when it takes on the Mount at the University of Rochester.
Heidelberg finished the 2018-19 season with an 8-18 overall record and a 6-12 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
What's Next: The winners and losers of Friday's matchups between the Mount and Heidelberg and Rochester and Misericrodia will square off in the consolation and championship games on Saturday. The consolation tilt is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with the championship contest set for 8:00 p.m.
