Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Volleyball team returns to Skyline Conference play on Monday night when it plays host to Farmingdale State. Live Stats and Video will be available for those who cannot attend the 7:00 p.m. contest at the Kaplan Center.
At A Glance: The Knights have lost their last four outings overall and stand at 7-12 on the season with a 2-2 mark against Skyline Conference rivals. The Mount's last victory came in four sets over Maritime on September 28 and has been followed by straight set losses to Ramapo, USMMA, Union and St. John Fisher.
Freshman
Grace Riddle (Wantagh, N.Y.) paces the Mount in kills with 191 to date, averaging 2.85 winners per set. She sets the team standard in service aces with 42 and ranks second on the team in digs with 174 and total blocks with 23.
A pair of players have handed out better than 200 assists on the season, with freshman
Fran Cammarata (Carmel, N.Y.) leading the way with 232 and senior
Emily Mazzurco (Middletown, N.Y.) checking in with 203. Mazzurco also ranks fifth on the team in service aces with 19.
Senior
Morgan Burke (Ringwood, N.J.), the program's all-time leader in total blocks, paces the team in the category with 45 and sits in a tie for second on the team with 104 kills. Burke is also tied for fourth on the team in service aces with 21.
Danielle Kralik (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) has put away 104 winners for the Knights to go along with an even 100 digs and nine total blocks.
Renee Hydo (Bethpage, N.Y.) is tied for fourth on the team with 21 service aces and is contributing 54 kills, 104 digs and 10 total blocks.
Sophomore
Alyssa Barbara (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) has lifted a team-high 263 digs to date and ranks third on the team with 31 assists and second on the squad in service aces with 26.
Last Time Out: The Knights dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions at Union Saturday afternoon, falling to the host Dutchwomen and St. John Fisher.
Riddle led the way in the opener with five kills, with Cammarata handing out a team-high nine assists. Barbara lifted a team-high seven digs with Riddle and
Danielle Guarasci (Plainview, N.Y.) recording a pair of blocks each.
Against St. John Fisher, Riddle put together her team leading fourth double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs with Barbara reaching 20 digs in a match for the fourth time with a team-high 21. Mazzurco rounded out the match with 15 assists and Burke totaled three kills and four blocks.
Scouting The Rams: Farmingdale State comes to town having dropped three of its last four matches, including a 3-0 loss to USMMA on October 3. The Rams hold a 10-8 overall record entering Monday's contest and a 2-1 mark against conference rivals.
Farmingdale State features four players with at least 100 kills on the year, led by 176 winners from Kate Flamio who averages nearly three winners per set. Rachel McCartin has recorded 160 winners and leads the way with 28 aces, with Kelsey Voiklis and Alicja Zaborowska checking in with 142 and 114, respectively.
Lexi Cavalieri enters Monday's tilt with 313 assists, averaging better than six helpers per frame, with Maria Veliz Thol helping on 235 kills. Madisyn Pozo paces five Rams with at least 100 digs with 280, while Voiklis leads the way at the net with 46 total blocks.
League Leaderboard: Both teams begin the week with players scattered over the Skyline Conference league leaderboard.
Riddle ranks seventh in the conference in kills per set (2.85) and ninth in service aces per set (0.63), while Barbara sits fourth in digs per frame (4.24) and Burke ranks third in total blocks per set (0.70).
Voiklis is just ahead of Burke in total blocks per set for Farmingdale State (0.72) and Pozo is just ahead of Barbara in digs per set, ranking third in the conference (4.38). Cavalieri sits third in assists per stanza (6.39) and Flamio is just behind Riddle in eighth place in kills per set (2.79).
Recent History: Since the start of the 2007 season, the two side have met 16 times with Mount Saint Mary holding a 10-6 record. The Knights won five straight from 2010-13, including a matchup in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament, while the Rams have won the last three contests, including a 3-0 sweep in 2018. Overall, the two teams have split the last six meetings.
